I really thought TF2 was more hyped than this;   yet I dont see a single topic about it. Teamfortress 2 is really history in the making. For those who dont know, Team Fortress two is a 'sequel' to an old mod in half life 1 (which was actually at first a doom mod or something like that) and it was a very popular online game. And now the pre-purchashers of the orange box can play a beta of TF2 next monday. I personally cant wait to play it... So anybody heard of it at least? What are your expectations blah blah etc etc pancakes.

EDIT: Mods plz delete one of my dupe topics my bad.

Your topic sucks.  I was going to make one that was a lot better tomorrow.

I couldn't possibly be more psyched for this game. I'm glad Valve is doing it - with the godsend that is Counter Strike: Source, I can only have high hopes for TF2.

My roommate is pretty psyched about this, but I've never heard of it at all before he mentioned it. How popular is it really? Does anyone here play the old one, or is interested in Team Fortress 2?

Well I don't like the comical direction TF2 has (I was an avid player of TFC like 4 years back, 6+ hours a day) but Fortress Forever definately looks great, Ima have to pick that up and give it a try.

Unless it has pins and medals and unlocks like BF 2142 I'm not going to play it
Play Raimond Ex (if you haven't already)

Yeah I prefer games like 2142 and mods like Insurgency opposed to the twitch, fast paced ones.

I, for one can't wait for this.

I love the art direction, the preview cutscenes are also a riot.

Im curious though, will they make the pyro a class that's actually worth using this time around?

Looks alot different than what the TF2 that chips&bits was selling preorders from. That one was all Counterstrike/battlefield style. But then again that was back in 2001.

I hope they don't screw with the balance like they did with TF though... I remember when the two "lesser" jobs were HW guy and the pyro. However since people kept bitching about it, they had a major update where they reskinned all jobs and "fixed" the two jobs. Well they fixed the pyro by increasing the flame thrower/rocket damage alot, but they completely overpowered the HW guy and made his bullet do so much more it was sickening.

What I disliked about the videos is that they're so psychotic it's not even funny

Holy...holy shit. My roomate just got this today, and it's one of the most fun FPS, no, one of the most fun video games I've ever played, ever. The gameplay is fast and frantic, and the 9 character classes with their differences in play style (for example, Engineers can built turrets and upgrade them, spies can disguise themselves as enemies and one hit kill them while disguised, etc), weapons, and models give the game a feel that no other FPS I've ever played can match. Not to mention tons of other features and touches that just make the game overall awesome.

Dude, the pyro was a pretty useful class for suicide attacks if the enemy was grouped together in one area.

The original Team Fortress was fun and I love the style the new game has going for it, but I haven't heard much from it that will seperate it from other online FPS games like Battlefield.

I'll end up buying it anyways once I get THE ORANGE BOX but I'll end up playing portal first so... meh.

You and I have very different senses of humor then.

The Pyro was fun, but come on, it was useless as crap in most scenarios.

Well, I've been playing the beta all day and it's pretty much the best multiplayer game I've ever played. It has the perfect pace and the most diversity I've seen among classes. I'm really quite partial to the spy. I get so much satisfaction out of coming up with all these crazy ways to deceive the other team and then smashing my knife down their spines. It's lovely.

The game runs wonderfully smooth proving that the source engine is probably the best scaling engine ever. My rig is 3 years old now and I'm running it on medium with the FPS never dipping below 30.

The only thing that annoyed me outside of the fact that Valve made us wait into the early hours of this morning to start playing was that the respawn times are maybe a tad bit too long. Otherwise it's pretty flawless.

By preordering, you get access to the "beta" (Its more like an early release) instantly.

Let me say, its really great fun. I'd go more in depth, but Im going to play more now. >.>
