The FACE! Don't you just love how it feels to get Bull's-Eye KOs? Anyway, are there any characters anyone thinks will get banned from tournaments the first month of release?

Oh yeah, Dedede also throws capsules instead of Waddle Dees about 2% of the time, even if items are turned off. These capsules can contain just about any item in the game, including Smash Balls. That's right, even with items turned off, Dedede can generate a Smash Ball. I will seriously laugh my ass off when that happens in a tournament and some self-righteous nerd just about has a stroke.

Awesome.

I think I saw some "tourney" players playing Brawl with Smash Balls. It was really cool because they were very strategic and half the time they didn't even hit with the moves.
Below are things I've taken part to create:

Channel Changer 1-3 Complete
Easy Mac Complete
Easy Mac 2

Characters won't be banned. That's a fact.

Hahaha. It's nice to know Pit is good, I always thought he looked like a fun character. Anyone have some insight on Lucas vs. Ness? I hear Lucas is a beast, but... Specifics, I guess?

So I went to gamestop today to ask about tournament specifics. They know almost nothing about the tournament. No idea which characters will be unlocked, no idea what stages will be allowed, what items, etc, but I'm assuming it'll be only the starting roster (at least at my GS) with items.

Our tournament will be starting at 10 PM on March 8th. They're taking sign ups before the tournament even begins, not 30 minutes in advance like the website said they were. When I asked them about it, they didn't even have a list going, so they made one on the spot and I was the first name on the list. I doubt my gamestop will have many participants because of the fact that the tournament isn't really advertised much so most people don't even know about it unless they happen to go to the GS website. Hopefully they'll start advertising it locally sometime soon. Either way though, it's a win-win for me. If a lot of people sign up, it'll be more fun, but if only a few participate, I have a good chance of winning.

Since the tournament starts at 10 PM, I'm assuming they'll have the wii set up ahead of time and will allow people to play a bit before it starts. Might be a good idea to go and check to see if you can get some practice matches in if you haven't played Brawl yet.

Oh, and from the rumors that have been floating around, the winner of the first place tournament supposedly gets a free copy of Brawl.

I like Lucas better than Ness. His A moves, especially his smash attacks and aerials, seem improved over Ness', and he uses a lot of "psi" flair or whatever in his regular attacks, which pack a nice punch. Of course Ness had that gay yo-yo so that's not saying much. His PK Fire is different, but not necessarily "better," just a different because it has a ton of knockback instead of trapping them in one place. There are some other minor differences in his magic which were posted on the Dojo. Oh and he uses a snake for his grab so he has a bit more range, but it's not terribly long... still handy in some situations though.

I can understand the starting roster for the GW tournament, since it's early and not everyone will have all the characters unlocked-- but one minute matches? Especially with items on (I have no problem with items, I like them), it doesn't seem long enough to really be useful. (Unless I misread, the rules we're using for the GW tourney are the same as the gamestop ones?)

Regarding the gamestop tournaments--does anyone know if there's an entry fee?

We aren't using the same rules. So far, I'm thinking 3 stock, any stage, with items for the first one and 3 stock, select stages (I believe it was around 15-20 stages), no items for the second, but I've gotta talk to NB and others in #capcom. That's just what I was thinking, but no way in hell are we doing GS rules.

And no, there is no entry fee for the GS tournaments.

And a library of every single Wii game created by Nintendo ($700 value), plus a trophy estimated to be worth around $500, a Wii ($250), and Wii accessories ($150).

Guys, I'm sorry, but I have to win this.

How's the single player in things like this?

I'm not too much into online stuff (because I am bad at fighting games and would loose in like 2 seconds...**also because literally everyone I've played online with is either a) an inmature retard who asks me how big my boobs are every 2 seconds or b) someone who takes winning video games WAY too seriously and screams at me when I mess up...)**

Are you saying you don't know of the SSB series? http://Http://www.smashbros.com just in case.
The single player modes mostly focus on training the player in using items and going against skilled opponents, 1 or 3, even teams. Super Smash Bros is focused around an all-out fast-paced battle to be the last one standing. It's hardly just a single-player. I'd guess the single player mode would get tiresome due to not having any competition, playing the same CPUs that fight the same way in every situation, like a uniform.

Oh I've heard of it, I also briefly played the original back on the Nintendo 64.  I just don't really know the dynamics of the game.

Can 4 people play against each other on the same machine?

SPOILERS

 :fogetshifty:

Well actually, believe it or not, I'm a little disappointed. Nintendo announced during development that "there will be at least 50 different playable characters" but there are exactly 38 different playable characters. Well, to be honest, there are 36 slots, one of the slots being a "random select" slot. But I'm counting multiple playing characters like the Squirtle/Ivysaur/Charizard combo, or the Zelda/Shiek combo. It's kind of a relief seeing Wolf O'Donnell or R.O.B. the Robot are in the brawl. :woop: However I did notice some interesting assist trophies, like Waluigi and his fury kick technique... so... have anyone else saw how weird Luigi's or Mr.GameandWatch's final smashes were?

It sounds great, but when you realize that it's a national tournament between all gamestops (probably involving travel to the finals) and people who have imported the game and have been training for months.

Unless I'm mistaken, but I really don't think that they're doing this massive prize at each gamestop tournament.

When did they say that there would be 50 characters in Brawl?

Yes. Up to 4 players, with any combination of Players or CPUs with a difficulty from 1-9.
