The beam saber is a lot cooler; it seems like a mixture of Melee's and the originals now. I'm happy as long as it keeps its strength when thrown.

Others are expected returns, except imo the fire flower looks worse.

Also what is that clock? It looks interesting, I guess. It could be a lot of things. Hopefully a temporary slow-mo thing, that'd be sick.

I'm confused as to what looks worse about the fire flower? It looks the same.

Also I don't like the super reach on the sword or the fact it is blue! What's up with that?

It looks like a weird flower with a slit in it instead of a traditional Mario fire flower from the games.

Also I kind of agree, although the blue looks good. The reach will make it more interesting; I can't tell if it's good or bad yet.

We now know that the Fire-flower and Beam saber are back. IMO a crappy update.

How do you figure? The very picture of the Wikipedia article has rings of fire going from white, to orange, to red; outside to inside. This is red, yellow, with a black slit. Imo the traditional NES version corresponds more to, say, the Super Mario version. Plus it just looks weird! A fire flower item = a flower that blows fire, in my mind!

Finally! The sword has a better use then just being chucked around.

(and well, sword only battles, but that doesn't count)

Edit: The fireflower would look 10x better without the slit, but nobodies going to notice it in-game anyways so who cares.

Ok, I did not want to turn this topic to penii & sexual themes like the last topic, but the new fire flower looks like a fleshlight to me...

It swapped through colours in the NES game. At one point it was red/yellow, like the SSB screenshot.

I'm not saying the SSB one will swap colours too, but it is a faithful 3d recreation of the NES model.

It swaps colors in the original...? Wow, I totally forgot. Okay then, I agree it's more faithful to the original. Although my opinion is still the Super Mario World version of the fire flower is a lot better.

edit: kentona in the cartoon bowser is totally green and peach is a brunette, so...

No one's said anything about the colour of the Beam Sword?! I'm appalled, you can clearly see in Sbb, and even in Melee that the Beam Sword is NOT Blue! Is pink-red not good enough for the Next-Gen system? Discuss.

It swaps through a used pallete in the NES version. In the above ground levels, it's white/red/orange/yellow etc, and below ground it is blue/white/grey etc.

Aztec, I like blue better than pink. Although... I am wishing with all my heart that the Beam Sabers spawn different colors. I wanted it so that it'd be like a handle or white or something and then according to who picked it up, it would change colors. E.g. Mario would have a red saber, while Link a green one, while Kirby a pink one, etc. Nevermind that now, though.

The clock pauses the game, suprise! Nah, I hope slows down time.

That'd be cool but if you think about it, it could really affect the battle. All you'd have to do is throw someone and they couldn't move!
