Man was only a clone in the original, and even then he was moderately different. In Melee, he had totally different A's and his B's were either original or heavily modified. Falco was 10x more of a clone in Melee than he was.

Anywho, isn't this game released in Japan now? Do we know the full roster yet?

We knew the final roster 2 days ago. Here it is:

Due to certain circumstances which will prevent me from actually buying or playing SSBB with my friends at the American release, and because I am rabidly anticipating this game (and because I am a little crazy) I have decided to import Brawl and a Japanese Wii. I should have it by the end of next week, and then I can enjoy a full month of illicit SSBB-playing with my pals. Eat me, noobs!

I don't know where all you people thinking of importing think you're going to get your games from....if you haven't been following the news, Nintendo failed to meet demand for the Japanese release, and most stores aren't going to be able to fill preorders. Play-Asia said that they were only going to be able to meet 15% of theirs, and probably wouldn't be able to fill the rest until February 4 at the earliest.

So I think that if you're expecting to get a copy by next week, you're going to be paying quite a bit of money for rush shipping and buying off of eBay.

Yeah, but I paid $170 for Rock Band. In the grand scheme of things, Brawl > Rock Band, so really money is not an issue.

What happens if you can't play the U.S. players with your Japanese copy of the game? You won't be able to play us.

Damn, Nintendo better not make that mistake with us. I've waited for this game for YEARS.

I really don't have any desire to play SSBB in Japanese for the rest of eternity, forever. Once I get back from my trip in April, I'll buy an American copy and sell the Japanese Wii and game.

What happened to 'no more clones?'
Although that Final Smash looks crazy as hell.

I don't know about you guys, but I am looking forward to an Official GW Super Smash Bros. Brawl Tournament.  Who is going to take the task of setting it up upon themselves?

Me, too. Although I'm concerned about the amount of space for Brawl friend codes. My friends and family come first, but I'd really love to be in a tourny with everyone else.

Another pretty big concern of mine is online play. Can you set up specific things like stock matches? If it's always 2:00 timed matched, that would really suck. Anyone know about this?

I'm pretty sure timed battles are just for "with anyone." With friends you can set up the matches how you want. 5 stock > timed any day.

Ugh... I hate timed matches, and I was really looking forward to With Anyone. If this is true, I guess they haven't really thought of 'everything'! I'd rather have stock matches with random people online than stickers, anyway.

I'd love to set up a tourney if possible. I've been looking forward to having a GW tourney ever since I learned about this topic and I think I'd be pretty good at getting it organized and all that stuff since I've ran a tourney or two before (granted, they were with people who lived in my area, not online). I'd need some help though, but I'd love to do the planning, find out when people want to play, and all of that other stuff.

EDIT: A bunch of my friends play smash (5 to be exact). I know this tourney is supposed to be a GW thing, but would I be able to invite these people to participate or should we just have it GW exclusive? I won't care either way. Just figured I should ask first.

I would be mad down for a gw tournament so long as there are no dumb rules like NO ITEMS

also maybe i am thinking way too far ahead, but it would be pretty boss if we could get someone with a TV capture device to record each match from spectator mode and put the videos up on stage6 for everyone to watch when it's over.

Unless spectator mode is completely random, in which case fuck me, I guess!

I'm not sure how it works, but I think you can spectate on the matches your friends are having, so if that's the case, we're set.

As for the recording, I can hook up my DVD player and record matches onto a blank DVD, then rip them from there, edit them, and post them online. That's what I used to do before.

As for the rules...well I say we either compromise somehow or we do both types of tournaments (both anything goes and tourney rules, which I would like much more). The second option would be cool cuz it'd be like "best player w/items" and "best player w/out items." It's also a good idea because we probably won't have too big of a turnout (I'm guessing around 10-12 people tops) so it wouldn't even take long to finish if we did two.

I too have a capturing device for my computer and will gladly help out with recording videos if needed.

Heh, 3 minute recording is for chumps.

I'd love to be in a GW tourny, but ftr, I do not use or intend to use IRC, which has kept me out of these kinds of things in the past.

I for one am very pleased at how the Dojo is actually identifying the differences between the supposed clone characters they present, I mean I am going off only one example so far but to me it looks like they've made enough changes for the characters to be as individuals.
