WHAT MUSIC WORKS FOR SLEEPING?

[lists ][/lists]

i'd say minimalistic techno works pretty fine for sleeping

i could say YO TRANCE or METALLICA since ive fallen asleep to both often but honestly minimalistic techno (its very slow and stripped)

Pzizz.

Even if you don't like the guy talking you could always generate sleep naps with just music.
I think pzizz uses binaural beat shit so I don't like it. idk why but that stuff doesn't work for me. if it doesn't use binaural beat, I guess it's just too boring for me

You know most of us can't see music right

Edit: Seriously guys

they just need to...believe

really though I still think certain music would be easier for everyone to fall asleep to, if it's a predominantly sleepy color to me. I should test this

I think some of it does and some of it doesn't.  But really, why is boring a bad thing when you're trying to sleep?

haha. well the reason I sometimes listen to music while trying to fall asleep is because the silence allows my mind to wander too much. same with pzizz but to a lesser extent. probably works a lot better with binaural beat though, that stuff can be pretty powerful

so what are some sleepy colors?  and what does green sound like?
I don't know ask ragnar, he's into that stuff. the bands I posted are some of the few that actually command color to me

oh but sleepy colors? there are a lot of opinions from an artistic standpoint, but imo the best color combination for sleep is pale yellow and deep greenish blue. not the best example but: http://postmatre.deviantart.com/art/shut-up-i-am-dreaming-35588263

Usually, I don't listen to albums when I sleep, since it would skew my last.fm charts also because I am too lazy to make a long playlist. When I feel like listening to music while sleeping, I turn on chillout internet radio or head over to last.fm and turn on similar artists to either Deaf Center or Max Richter.

man I dont meet too many other people that get a real strong tone color association to music. I am very synaesthetic in that regard (though I dont see different keys as different colors like that one composer did or whatever.. its more on a song/movement/album basis for me)

MY RADIATOR SOUNDS SO ORANGE  :goose: :goose: :goose:

This ambient stuff I'm listening too does make me see a lot of weird little sparklies, probably because the song's full of sounds coming out of nowhere

Usually Global Underground CDs are pretty good when you just wanna fall asleep. It can also be good for focusing on things... Like when I am driving long distances certain mixes are pretty good at keeping me in the trance.

This may sound kind of weird, but I actually have a playlist of slow/soft Within Temptation and Nightwish songs.  Something about the symphonies in and the beauty of them is just completely relaxing.

Post-rock, OST's, calm stuff.
Is it our duty to die for governments and for gods?
Is it our privilege to slave for market and for industry?
Is it our right to follow laws, set to scare and to oppress?
Is it a gift to stay in line and will it take away the blame?

This was a terrible addition considering post-rock has been mentioned numerous times, while "OSTs" and "calm stuff" are pretty ambiguous/broad/expected.

I suggest finding "Akmusique - La Vie Du Lounge".

I never listen to music when I sleep. But I think some of these may work...

http://www.last.fm/music/2002
http://www.last.fm/music/Marcome
http://www.last.fm/music/Yanni
http://www.last.fm/music/Amethystium

And then just browse similar artists if you like it.

For some reason I can fall asleep to music with no problem when I am taking naps but not when I am going to bed for the night. I usually listen to Elliott Smith, John Frusciante or Miles Davis

This trancy type stuff by the group Aura. Songs like Floating Space, Crystal Lake, Kathmandu Beach, and others. this stuff definitely puts me in an "out there" kinda mood. slow, progressive type stuff. i dunno. give em a whirl.

Miles Davis, Kind of Blue usually does the trick for me, but last night I fell asleep to Let It Bleed from Rolling Stones, except then You Can't Always Get What You Want woke me up. Shame.
