How much of a gamer are you nowadays? With the next gen systems in full swing and as the video game culture is as thriving as ever to both the casual gamer and the hardcore gamer, how are you holding up in gaming? Have you maintained your interest in video games and the video game culture? Do you still make sure to catch all of the latest releases and the news about the systems they've played on? What's your current interest in video games?

As for me, honestly, my interest in video games are slowly fading. While I still like video games and certain genres quite a bit, I just can't be pressed to follow all of the gaming news, buy all of the newest releases, and even to play the games. It's nothing against the hobby personally, but as of why, I think it's just that other ways of spending time have gotten to a higher priority nowadays for me, especially with me being in the middle of college. The biggest reason is money; I just can't be arsed to spend hundreds of dollars on consoles, and then 50 bucks on a game when there are so many other things to spend money on.

I'm more of a casual gamer, and just play to pass the time, and what not. Although I think I'm getting into gaming a bit more recently, mainly because of the PSPs Homebrew greatness, trying out new things.

Nowadays, not that much new stuff appeals to me. I just like to keep up to date on my favorite franchises (Mario, Zelda, Mega Man, classic Sonic, etc.), and once in a while I'll try something new that looks like it'll interest me. I think my library of games is a decent size. I find myself keeping up to date on the video game world in general. Sometimes I'll know so much about a game I've never played and people will think that I've played it.

That's another thing; I never sell or give away any of my games, no matter how bad or good they are. Anyone else do this?

Yeah, I'm the same way, but that's because most of my games are relatively rare RPG's I'm sure I'd never see again if I did (Suikoden 2, Lunar 2, etc)

There should be a "too much in my opinion" answer

That'd be mine.

I am what you would, call a "hardcore gamer", or "a game head".

Quite simply, I live to Game...

On a side-note, your poll really doesn't do justice for my kind of gamers.

I live to play, I enjoy playing, I play day and night, I listen to video game music, all the time I'm thinking about video games and etc. etc.

This does NOT fit into "I'm still very much a gamer; I follow all of the news and games." There should be a choice up there saying I LOVE VIDEO GAMES SO MUCH I AM A VIDEO GAME MYSELF.

EDIT: Ok that probably didn't make any sense but you get my point.

This.

I play games, but I only really follow my favorite series like FF, Sonic (as bad as the games are nowadays), Smash, Fire Emblem, and good ol' Star Ocean.

I'm interested in the gaming culture and read up on a few places about gaming news and developments in gaming. I hardly ever play any new games though. The only current-gen systems I own are a Wii and a DS and I don't have a lot of games. On the PC I only play games I get from the bargain bin. Instead I'm a gamer in the respect that I read and look at stuff about games but hardly ever play.

For actual games I'm a combination of a niche and casual gamer. On the PC I'm mostly niche, playing different older titles that no one plays anymore and on the consoles I just love my Mario and shooting the head off zombies.

I sure like playing games, and every now and then a gem comes along that I really, really like, but they're just not making enough good games anymore. It's sad. :(

It's still my main obsession, but I hardly play as much anymore.

I have a 550MHz PC and I have only touched a console about ten times in my entire life. That's how much of a gamer I am.

Not to say that I don't play computer games every day, but it does limit my options a bit.

admittedly it is a reall shallow kind of enjoyment and the weapons are really gay(as most of the them are ray gunz or phazers or some retarded thing that shoots purple crystals)

but i generally cant stand any shooters so it must be doing something right.

Even though I did spend an unusually large amount of cash getting consoles and the latest games this year... I would still be just as hardcore if I was just playing Dota and Lineage ][ (as ][/ (as] art scenes. I wouldn't have to give two shits about the latest news or the gaming community to be considered an avid gamer. But I do... so that makes me a gamefag all around.

See, I don't really keep up to much with gaming news and next gen things, but I spend
an unhealthy amount of time playing video games. Hell, My game collection is pretty small. But thats because I end up selling games to get new games. Of course, I'll keep it. My biggest collection for any system has to be Nintendo games (as in the system). But, ever since I discovered emulators, I've spent even more time playing games. I'm going back to the older systems to play games now, so I hardly know anything about the next gen stuff. So I guess I'm not a hardcore gamer. But like I said, I spend way to much time playing video games.
you will fail

I play video games very often not EVERY day, and I check and see if there is any games that interest me, not games that I have to get for stupid reasons. I'd rather save my money then spend it on a game i'll never play (.hack)
