Except Lucas expressly granted EU canon (when he forbade them from going into Ep 1 territory until it was done, he acknowledged that people believed in EU as part of the story) and has frequently taken things from the EU, and the Thrawn trilogy is widely regarded to be the real sequels to Star Wars by pretty much everyone.

Also, Ysalamiri are average sized lizards, not hamsters, Fett got out of a Sarlacc, not a Rancor, neither Luke nor Leia were ever established to be stronger or weaker as far as I know, and Chewabacca was killed by the collapse of a moon into a planet, and never expressly "moon flattened", and for someone who thinks EU has no bearing, you sure do seem to know a lot of trivia about it.

Guess what? It is just as possible as Star Wars to be in Soul Calibur because you have to "extend the universe" (What?! What possible thing could have done this?!) to accomodate it, just like you extended the Spawn universe to accomodate Soul Calibur, using what details you have left. We know from Ep II Star Wars has clones, so, hey! Check it out! I just came up with an in-film canonical explanation for Yoda and Vader! Whoah!

Also, no one anywhere should care! Jesus Christ! Soul Cailbur doesn't have a fantastic story that you need to gripe about a tie-in, ever! It isn't fucking "Citizen Kane II: Featuring the Terminator"!!

This may finally give us the chance to play as Vader in a fighting game that doesn't completely blow (ahem, MASTERS OF TERAS KASI).

Seriously, yeah, I have to agree with everyone who has already said that they're just bonus characters in a fighting game.

It's pretty sad how people are all whining about game balance being affected by two characters that will be obviously banned from serious play (not due to brokenness, but due to their console exclusive status, just like the SC2 cameo characters and Necrid).

Like I know I take these games way too seriously sometimes but goddamn people you guys need to stop whining about something that won't matter unless your friend is a stupid dick, in that case then I suggest you just punch him in the face in retaliation.

(On a side note, it's not like the console exclusive characters were any good besides Necrid (who was pretty much the most stupid character in a SC game to date with an easy 3 button juggle that lead to around 60% damage) and Spawn (who could fly and stall a match indefinitely))

You know after Midway's MK vs. DCU Vader and Yoda being in this doesn't seem like that big a deal anymore for some reason. They just feel like extra cameos that probably won't be a major part (or have a part at all in) the main story line and continuity. I mean this COULD have ended up as Soul Caliber vs. Star Wars y'know.

Well there has been talk about having more SW characters as downloadable purchases eventually. :P
