Edit:  ALL SCHOOLS WELCOME!!!

Since there is probably a good amount of people who have graduated college, are currently in college, or are going to college in the next few years I thought that maybe a database/general college help topic might be... well, helpful.  Getting accepted into college isn't always the hard part, it's paying that's a killer.  I'm not even at the tip of the iceberg yet as my senior year winds down.  I'm starting to hit the scholarships hard and trying to find as many as I can, but I thought that maybe some of you have had experience or have knowledge of things that myself and countless other college student-to-be's don't.  Basically in this topic I thought it'd be nice if maybe you put down your intended or completed major, the college you went to, scholarships/financial aid you got/ and what you're doing now (if you're out of college).  I intend on attending...

College:  Ball St. University (Indiana)

Major: (Elementary Education - possibly dual in Special Education)

Financial Assistance:  To Ball St. I have none right now.  Although you could donate to my college fund in my sig.

Are you serious about wanting people here to help you pay through college? Good fucking luck.
Anyway I am going to university in a month or so. (University is where Australian kids go after high school)

College:  Queensland College of Art - Griffith University (Brisbane, Australia)

Major: Bachelor of Animation, 3 years full time

Financial Assistance:  Not really anyone's business but mine

I don't know really what this topic is about (I'm dumb)...just post things about you and college?

Anyways, I go to a community college at the moment.  I am taking:
Geography of the Developing World
German III
Algebra II
Non Western Art
Korean Martial Arts

My schedule is tight this semester:
Mon: 6-8:50pm
Tues. 10am-8pm
Wed: no classes
Thurs: 10-5pm
Fri, Sat, and Sun: No classes.
Tuesday will probably be tiring but it's good I get Wed. off.

Since it's community college I still live at home and just commute (it's 30 min. away).  I have one more semester to go after this to get my Associates in Arts (that is if I pass all my classes).  I could have gotten it a lot sooner (this is my 6th semester here lol) but for a couple of semester I just took whatever I wanted and a math class...so I dilly dallied.  After this I plan on studying religion and theology but I have no clue where I want to go and what not.  Also, my grades aren't the best...they aren't horrible but they aren't too good.  That might have a big impact on me getting into schools.

I guess you could say I'm the lazy student.  I only do what is needed and that is it.  I never tried to do any scholarships and I never joined any clubs or anything (even in high school) but I am thinking of joining the environmental club as long as the meetings don't conflict with my class times.  The leader of the club is my Korean Martial Arts teacher and I've had him for Eastern Philosophy and he's a pretty awesome dude...very friendly, smart, and into a lot of the same things as me.  Another reason for joining would be obviously it interested me but also because I am extremely shy I need to start talking to more people.

So yeah I'd study religion and theology but I honestly don't know what I would do with it.  The main reason for wanting to study it is because the subject fascinates me so much.  The only thing I came up with would be a teacher (world religions?).  I am also heavily interested in the diet/health/holistic medicine field.  So basically I'll be getting my AA but not sure what I want to do.  But at least having an AA is better than just having a high school diploma.

RPG...do you have a job?  That would help pay for college a bit.  Your parents aren't helping out at all?  My mom is paying for my schooling I just gotta buy my own books (they cost a lot but that is very fair deal imo).

College: University of Wisconsin, Madison
Major: Dunno, but I plan on declaring PoliSci or Economics end of the semester depends how classes go.
Financial assistance: Myself mostly (well student loans too) and some from family. I was pretty lazy senior high and never applied for any scholarships even though they say do as many as possible. But uh I don't quite get as low of tuition as instate but I do get reciprocity which is pretty cheap for Madison.

I'm not even close to being serious, but if one person wants to donate one cent, then that's one random cent more than I had before.

Sure! If you want to expand on those few points I put down and talk about your college experiences then go right ahead.

I do have a job but at $6.50 an hour and working only 15-20 hrs a week limits my cash flow.  My parents will help a bit but there is no way they can cover it all.  I come from a lower-middle class family and we just don't have that much money for college so it's a must that I find other assistance.  I really don't want to have to repay loans.

what is an AA?

College:  Massey University

Major: Psychology and Religious Studies (maybe???)

Financial Assistance: money from the gub'ment

this should have been my last year but they didn't offer enough religious studies papers to get the major in time, and now the religious studies department has been erased altogether without warning so i don't know what's happening there!

i never had any financial problems as i worked during my last year of highschool and over the summer enough to pay for my first year of uni, and i've been working while attending college as well. it's a bit different for me because my entire degree will cost around $15k
also we have this ridiculous zero interest student loan thing at the moment so paying for uni was really really easy

Major: DEC in general social sciences (here a DEC is what will then let you get a bachelor's in uni, it's basically our step between high school and uni)
Financial Assistance: none, it's actually rather cheap at like 125$ per session for a Quebec full-time student.

hmm my german teacher went to ball state

anyway yeah I've been doing post-secondary enrollment at the Ohio State University Marion Branch Delaware Campus (a branch of a branch campus cause its like... 5 minutes away) this year to augment my AP credits as far as GEC's go for next year when I move down to main campus

I tried to graduate high school early last year and wasnt able to so I have to finish out this school year and I am starting at OSU for the fall semester next year, I'll be double majoring in Anthropology and Linguistics or something like that. I've already gotten a couple scholarships and I'm working on some more but I think my loaded grandpop is gonna help out with the room and board payments or some such. hopefully I will not have to work much during the school year.

Right now I'm just taking an online community course for funsies, just so I don't get out of the groove of school. I intend on taking EMT training at the same school over the summer, or, depending on where I'm at financially, I'd like to start on a Fire Science associates next semester. I would then transfer to ASU and make it a bachelor's.
Of course nothing is set in stone this early on, I'm just making semi-plans.
A big deciding factor is that as soon as I get EMT training under my belt (and maybe Firefighter I and/or II), I intend on putting my application in practically everywhere in Arizona and Oregon. Where (if anywhere) I get hired on will probably play a big role in deciding my education from there.

I'm in my second semester of college right now. This is what I am taking:

CSC 201 - Computer Science I - Have my first class in 3 hours.
ENG 125 - Introduction to Literature - My teacher seems very smart and I think I'll like this class.
HIS 127 - Women in American History - this is a hybrid course. I took a class with this teacher last semester and dropped it because hybrid courses are fucking ridiculous, but this was the only class that was open and I had to fulfill my history requirement so I am taking it with this teacher again.
MTH 151 - Math for the Liberal Arts - I don't even know what that means. I was recommended this for some reason even though I took calculus last semester. I also had this teacher last semester and he grades so easily and doesn't care if you don't come to class.
PED 191 - CAMPING - pe requirement. what the fuck
PSY 202 - Psychology II - I started this class today and the teacher was very cool. I've also got some friends in this class so I think it'll be pretty good.

I don't have a major yet. I don't even have an idea of what I want to be.

Simon Fraser University
Major: Computer science
Financial assistance: Parents/Family, a scholarship or 2, and the money I have saved up over the past several years (since I never really spend money)

With my current schedule I am at school 10:30-6:20 Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and have the other days off :)
Classes:
CMPT 125: Intro to computer science and programming II (Loads of Java fun!)
CMPT 150: Intro to computer design (Some stuff to do with circuits and stuff, followed by a little bit of assembly language!)
CMPT 165: I can't remember the name of this course but it is really easy and XHTML/CSS stuff
MACM 101: Discrete Mathematics
TECH 101w: Communication, Teamwork and Collaborative Process (Everything that is no fun, all mashed together into one course that I am required to take!)
fuck it all, dd is dead

also I've had some really interesting professors in my pseo experience, last quarter I had a soc professor who was this crazy old black lady that was like 150% jive and had a speech impediment so understanding her was impossible but she had an amazing sense of humor and her class was really fun

and this quarter I have a professor who gets angry at you if you address him using his last name and told us once when outlining an assignment that he would like for us to be creative, and that he enjoys creative learning, and that he regretted not getting into creative learning until late in his academic career and some kid in the back asked 'dave does that mean you were introduced to pot after the age of 35' and his response was probably rather inappropriate but the implied answer was 'good job you clever little shit'. but basically he is just a weird middle aged geography professor going through a midlife crisis. hes a pretty nice guy though

ME 180: stupid design class. the professor is a goddamn dick, hopefully the class is very easy. its basically autocad

Calc 133: Second semester of calculus. seems somewhat challenging. Its not too bad though

Physics 182: this class is a goddamn joke and i hate the fact that they take attendance. my highschool physics was more difficult than this

wra 195h: writing class. we get to see simpsons episodes and write papers about them. somewhat interesting but i think its mostly bullshit.

i am majoring in mechanical engineering. i like my math classes. hopefully i will someday get a phd and get paid for thinking inside a university.

Going to either the University of Western Ontario or Waterloo.
I'm going to major in Biomedical Sciences and hopefully afterwards get into dentistry (if I don't, I'll just go into business).
Financial support: uhh, government loans? and some scholarships, hopefully.
