...Anyway, this game looks awesome. It's a step up from Final Fantasy III DS, but I enjoy that one a lot too. I really really hope they release this one here in the U.S. There has been some talk about it, but after a few hours of searching around, I couldn't really find any exact evidence.

Although I'm pissed that I bought the gameboy advance one which sucks in comparison to this one...

This has always been my favorite Final Fantasy game, starring some of the coolest classes in the FF series, a Dark Knight -> , and a Dragoon. Cecil and Kain were always the best.

I hope there's someone else who shares my enthusiasm.

FFIV: THE GOOD:
-Improved GFX from the GBA and SNES version as well as better than that of FFIII.
-New ability learning system, where you can learn the abilities of a member who has left the party.
-The plot has been improved to be even better, more of the original script has been used.

THE BAD:
-Unsure if there really are any new areas or parts of the game never before released.
-Because of so many new enemies added, polygons were removed making GFX not as good as could be, but still pretty good.
-They had a hard time fitting the data on a DS card. (YOU KNOW THEY CRAMMED AND REMOVED STUFF, PEOPLE!)
- (More to come as I think about it more!)

THE... Well, THE NEUTRAL I guess.
-Voice acting in main cutscenes. -Can be turned off. Good or bad?
-Up to 5 enemies in battle now.

hehehahhhahah hilarious

its a cat holding a ds

hoylfuck

Appart from the terribly gay graphics, I guess this is ok. I have a special (and I mean special(beacuse it is not I ADORE or I HATE because it is a special relationship(because ff4 is a terrible game(but i really like it)))) spot for ff4 in my heart.
Hopefully this is better than the half-assed GBA port.
Which was infact worse than the original SNES game.

I wouldn't mind playing FF4 in 3D.. I'll definitely pick it up when it comes over here.

why does cid have nigger lips?

I probably won't play it because I thought FFIV's battle system was HORRENDOUS.  If they can actually fix all the broken elements like stupid useless character skills (HIDE?  NO THANK U!  GUARD DOESNT ACTUALLY RAISE MY DEFENSE ANY?  PRAY DOESNT LEVEL UP WITH THE PARTY???) I might actually play it.

I remember beating FFIV in 19 hours, then my friend coming over with the "hard" version xD

Either way, beautiful graphics and new cutscenes dont really interest me. With all the shit SE has released lately, Im really not hyped for this. I mean, they've already released FFVI:Adv so whats the point of anymore subpar FF remakes when I can just pick that up?

well FF3 DS was terrible, but I am well aware that's due to FF3 being a terrible game, FF4 I have heard better things aboutt so I might get it, I dunno I'll wait til I see more about it.

Just based on my experiences with FF3DS, I'd say it's pretty likely that all of that will be addressed.

Aww. I'm going to have to get this, just to see what it's like... though it does look interesting. Didn't like FFIII DS though, the whole 3d-ness and interface of it, so... haven't got high hopes.

Might be alright though, but I'd rather see old FFs made for PSP gloriously sprited like I and II were than made for DS in mediocre 3d. If they give V and VI the same treatment, I will cry.

You gotta be kidding. I've only just started in FF3 DS, but FF3 for NES was one of the best games of its time.

I've played the DS version till the first boss. That mist dragon. I think it's a step backwards. It looks worse than FF3 because it uses full - bland - 3d backgrounds, and the the game is now on the top screen, whick means stylus control is a little weird, and battles can't be controlled with the stylus no more... maybe it'll be added in the english release. I was impressed by the video sequences and voice acting, but would have prefered less video sequences for more voice acting, or characters with more polygons.

I really like how they've added story to the gamethat was cut out, even though I haven't been able to enjoy it, thanks to my lack of Japanese speaking-...ness...

I liked Tales of Innocence better. Although the english dub will probably be far worse there... At least FFTA2 won't feature voice acting...

I'm not really too enthusiastic about this, but I was willing to give it a chance, until I read this comment by someone who's played the Japanese version on another forum.

I'm disappointed.

What was hyped, accidental or not, was that 75% was cut from the original story. But nothing new in terms of story has been added to the game.

There are no new playable characters, in fact, you can only use the final five at the end. Those who would like to use more than this will have to wait for hackers to create codes.

The decant abilities are nice but I don't think they begin to make up for only being able to use the same party as the SNES version which is about 13 years old. This is a far cry compared to what could have been done with the game.

The movie features a new battle, Golbez + 4 Emperors vs Cecil and his party. This battle does not happen in the game. Thanks, Square, for tantalizing us with stuff you aren't going to use!

There's a new feature, a stupid looking white doll (Poochika, official English translation unknown) that offers minigames and can be used in the auto battle. I think most of us would prefer a character that doesn't look like one from our little sister's closet?

Those who have never played the game before may want to give this a shot. It's still better than the new stuff Square-Enix has been churning out for the past 10 years. Those who are big fans of the game like I am will be very disappointed, as this is hardly a re-done version of FF4, so much as it is a watered down FF4 Advance with polygons instead of sprites.

The only thing I like on this remake is the graphical approach (liking the style and art, in fact, I am waiting for the artworks of the characters (the "chibi" (sort of) ones, not the actual amano pic)).

Other than that, not excited that much.

EDIT : moreso after Feldschlacht IV's post (if the rumors are true that is).

Maybe they realized why the cut it in the first place? Who knows.
I hardly remember the story so playing this again with new graphics and gameplay should be enough for me.

SquareEnix apparently knows what they're doing.  They come out with remake after remake, and yet I keep buying...I'm definitely gonna pick this one up, too.  And will continue to do so...
