yeah it's funny because it's actually a kind of fun game to play.

it's short but you'll get people who will play through it twice maybe.

honestly I think it just doesn't overstay its welcome like pretty much every RPG ever.

i don't know you are getting okay crossover appeal with the sports blogs and whatnot.  I don't think it's that farfetched to think that it might have SOME staying power

I'm astonished that the Chaos Drunk has not become some sort of new internet fad.

Yet.

Yet.

If it does, then I'm almost certain that it will not come from the Kitty Krew. Most of them don't seem too interested in it when I copy pasted the first post there. One of them is even being idiotic over it, yapping on about how it's a shitty Super Mario Bros hack with one sprite change or whatever.

Hey, I'm registering to say just how much I love this game. It's been a long time since I last got so engrossed in a game, especially a JRPG enough to play it right through to the end. IMO it's not too short at all. Any longer and I probably would have lost interest since these sorts of games always seem to string it out unnecessarily. Fantastic as both a 'joke' game (which is personally not how I would describe it though I do get the humour) and as a serious one. Playing with a SNES pad was especially awesome. I recommend keeping joypad support but as was said, I can always use JoyToKey for that.

I am thoroughly entertained and wait for the next part with baited breath.

Too bad you have to find it manually. It'll tell you that your account level isn't high enough if you try to go to it directly.

gz made a new version that should pretty much fix everything. i tried uploading it last night but my connection died when it was at 99% and i'm visiting my dad now so i can't upload it. if you could upload it and ds could change the op, gz, that would be really great. also mog if you could update the op at sa and bort could update the one at selectbutton.

Cool man, cool. I've been waiting for this new version because the older one had some really strange access violation issues that would crash Barkley if I had some other programs running at the same time.

this is the new exe guys:

http://www.tomatoland.org/drdougbeach/BarkleyV108.zip

you will still need the resources from the main download! also be sure to have the dll in the same directory as the exe. i apologize in advance for having this so horribly organized for those who are downloading, we are in the process of getting the site up and this will make it much easier for everyone to get the latest news / versions.

I

I just beat this. Just now. I must say this was incredible. No joke, I enjoyed it very, very much. The only, only gripe I have with it, is that the further it got (I mean pretty late in the game) it started feeling a bit rushed and the pace started getting a bit fast compared to early on. But other than that, it was just.. brilliant, bort, Chef, GZ, you guys are amazing. I'm looking forward to chapter 2.

Truckpump..

So I joined this forum 100% to rant about how awesome this game is.  This is coming from someone who's never played Barkley Shut Up and Jam, seen Space Jam, doesn't follow sports and honestly doesn't play that many video games (these days).  Also, I try not to talk to people on the internet, because my fear of rejection is THAT HIGH.  J/k, I'm just worried I'll get into a fight with some twelve year old and feel deeply, oh so deeply ashamed afterwards.  (Message to any and all parents out there: please, please do not let your obnoxious twelve-year-old use the internet, kthxbai.)

Someone someone said earlier that the game play is "smooth", which pretty much covers anything I could say about smoothness, so yeah, just reiterating.  The battle system was nice and the battles weren't, y'know, hard, which is great for me since I'm a huge quitter.  And that polished exterior is just the shiny frame around the dark, witty, sarcastic, hilarious tone of Barkley Shut Up and Jam : Gaiden.  The game is enjoyable on so many levels - there's the vast, epic plot dripping with ancient magicks and secret motives, dramatic dialogue and those poignant moments that make your heart weep b-ball tears...  And if you get bored of that, you can always fall back on the fact that the entire thing is charmingly absurd, like a bear on a bicycle wearing a top hat and a monocle and juggling tea cups while occasionally taking sips of tea.  I itched to get to the next town, the next plot revelation - partly to find out what happens next, but just as much because I knew I would have a good laugh.

Anyway, thanks for the good times.  Thank you.

(Two things - 1) Someone said earlier the game would take 4-5 hours.  Let it be known that for the vidcon challenged it might take upwards of seven... or eight.  2) I wish the game had prominently indicated what z, x & c did.  I freaked out for about ten minutes pressing enter and wondering why nothing was happening.  Also, not knowing I could run made that crystal lighting thing take about a thousand million tries.)

^- That is in parentheses because it's not important compared to all the GOOD THINGS I SAID.  Looking back, I start to wonder... why did I say them?  Did I really have to go on for so long when so many people who matter more than I have already made similar and possibly more meaningful comments?  Also, why the hell did I go on for so long?  ...I suppose I wanted to indicate through the time I took just how much I liked the game.  Or maybe I figure I i write enough words, someday someone might quote me.  Someday...

My favorite part:   I lawl'd.  Hard.

Or maybe you want to be featured as a Truckpump speech in the next game.

I would flip out and call all my friends and none of them would care but I would bask in the glory of it, and maybe sing a little.

Best fantasy ever.

EDIT: and that would totally count as quoting, so I'm extra in.
