oh my god! i can't believe it! i used to have this game on the snes and i was always joking to friends about how awesome it was. ridicolous dunks and super funky music. i know there were plenty of cheesy games similar to it back in the snes days but for some really odd reason this game stuck out for me. anyone who knows me and is into games know all about the mighty barkley's shut up and jam and how i always sung its praises. it was kinda a joke but at the same time it wasn't.

and now somebody has made an unofficial sequel of sorts that's an rpg - i find that pretty damn hillarious. there is actually a cult following for a barkley game that isn't just me joking around about an obscure old snes game! amazing! i look forward to playing it fully! the only thing that i'm already thinking is gonna let this down for me is the music. i know its probably not suitable etc etc and its stealing but the music for the original game was rockin'. super funky! if the makers of this are reading - please make a version that uses some of the music from the original game - especially the title track. then it'd really be jammin'

i rented the barkley game a long time ago when i was very young. i think it was the original i played, but i did not like it very much. i had to download the rom to rip sprites from it (surprise: no one else ripped barkley sprites so i couldn't just google it) and it was much better than i remembered. i got caught up in a few "jam" sessions you could say...

the low resolution barkley sprite on the menu screen was amusing but the best thing about the game was the music. really should of used some of those cheesy jams in this title

no way man that song chef remixed from spacejam is incredible and I've never played an indie game at all but I'm going to get this now and play it when I get some inbetween time.

some guy named quasar (quasar - funky stars) made the space jam remix. i don't know anything about this fellow but he seems cool as it is definitely THE barkley song.

I was looking at the IGF rules and I was thinking about submitting. I only sort of skimmed them, but I'm pretty sure Barkley is applicable. I'm going to look over it some more (Barkley was definitely made in the 'indie spirit'!!!!!) to make sure, but yeah, I think it will work. I've also got to talk to GZ, bort, and Drule about this to make sure they're cool with it and to make sure GZ is using a licensed copy of Game Maker. I'm pumped!

wait what does it matter if it was licensed or not? unless you are referring to UNSAVORY METHODS but i'm sure the free version is fine, isn't it?
