It's unfortunate.  I believed that Greenbay had a better chance of defeating NE in the superbowl.

Though, since the giants beat GB, my whole line of thinking is bankrupt.

...History VS the underdog...it doesn't get any better then THIS!!!
uh, yeah it does. sure, the patriots may play terribly and the giants may play over their heads, but you really have no way of anticipating that before the game starts. and if you are anticipating that, then you are probably just wrong.

the reality of it is that this is, far and away, the most lopsided superbowl matchup going into the game in recent memory. hell, this might be the most lopsided superbowl matchup EVER. new england is currently THE BEST FOOTBALL TEAM EVER, and New York is mainly in the playoffs because each of their opponents shot themselves in the foot. i can only assume that you are new to football if you are completely convinced that this is going to be some incredibly memorable game beyond the obvious records/blowout potential, and not the nauseating shitfest that every bit of logical information indicates this will be.

this game is particularly underwhelming in light of the fact that this game was almost Brady vs. Favre which, despite the fact that Green Bay isn't actually that good of a team, would have been one of the most unquestionably significant quarterback matchups in superbowl history. possibly THE most significant, although i'm not ruling out any huge matchups that currently slip my mind.

Yeah, I couldn't decide what I cared for more: For Green Bay to win so I could watch two future Hall of Famer QB's have at it, or for the Giants to win so that I could increase my Patriots Fan Win Confidence (r) Level by another 400%.

Although I'm a huge NE fan, I'm not oblivious to Pat hatred. If the Pats do win and go 19-0, 3/4 of sports websites will still run articles questioning the neutrality of refs and the NFL's CONSPIRACY. Oh well.

I don't like Tom Brady and I'm not the biggest Patriots fan (Chargers and Vikings are my teams) but I don't understand why people are adverse to them. I mean, I am really excited to see a perfect season + Playoffs come around in my lifetime. I mean it's history and I watch football for 2 things. To see my favorite teams play as frequently as possible and to see other teams do something really impressive. And this is really impressive, regardless of how much people hype this shit, the Patriots winning wasn't easy (there was luck and skill involved) and they are also in the fucking AFC which is a lot better then the NFC.

I am also a Randy Moss fan so I was very happy to see him being one of the major reasons that the Patriots are doing well.

Also I don't like Eli ever since the game against the Broncos where he was being a complete dick to Cutler on camera.

Edit: also also Celtics Red Sox Patriots championships would be cool

So yeah, i'm going through something absolutely unprecedented in being a sports fan. My baseball team just won the world series, again, my basketball team has the best record in the NBA, and my football team is one win away from being the greatest team in sports history.

I am very excited to beat New York again, it always makes it sweeter.

Since there's no Sports forum, there's really nowhere else to put this but...

Pats beat the Chargers 21-12 in the AFC Championship game to get into the Superbowl.. Unlikely heroes in Maroney and THE CLUTCH VET TE Kevin Faulk makin' it happen

I stopped reading right here. Kevin Faulk is a Running Back not a tight end. One thing I hate is discussing sports with people who know little about them.

Truth- Right after Boston won the World Series I knew this would me Boston/New England's year when Moss, Garnett, Welker and Allen all got shipped out to Massachusetts. I won't be surprised to see them take the Superbowl as well as the NBA championship.

I'm a Redskins fan and this is how I feel exactly (except for the Bolts/Vikes part). If the Patriots go 19-0 then I'll feel like I lived through something big. Although my natural inclination is to hate the Giants and any other NFC East team, I'm not sure who I'll be cheering for in the Superbowl- The Patriots making history or the Giants.

Fact: Every time the Giants have won the Superbowl the Redskins win it the next year. So I'm torn.

To break the momentum of the team is going to be tough, especially with so many veteran NFL players on the team like Seau, Vrable and Maroney
Dude Maroney is definately not a veteran.

All this football talk has me hyped up for some Madden. If anybody has a PS3 and madden add me my PSN is JTriz87 and I will destroy you.

Sorry the black guy came out.

I knew this would me Boston/New England's year when....Welker....got shipped out to Massachusetts.
i am going to have to call bullshit on this!! i was a pretty big fan of wes welker after watching a handful of miami games in 2006, but never with my overwhelming, but apparently justified optimism over the guy did i EVER think that he would have the sort of season he had this year and contribute what he did to this team, and i don't realistically see how anybody else could have either. there's no way someone could have looked at this short, scrappy return man/receiver and thought THIS GUY IS GOING TO MAKE THE PATS REALLY SPECIAL. i actually thought it would be a realistic scenario to expect him to have a season with the patriots similar to the season brandon stokley had with the colts in 2004 during Manning's 48TD year.

hell, i thought welker was brought into the organization as third-stringer material anyway? i thought they were going to give the SECOND FIDDLE TO MOSS role to stallworth. could be wrong there though.

eh, not like it matters because there were enough incredible players coming into new england over the offseason anyway, i'm just saying.

also, to pats fans: how big of a difference was adalius thomas this year? the pats signing him made me not want to watch football at all this year, because he was the best player on the ravens for years despite playing with a few future hall of famers. also he was what i thought would be the NAIL IN THE COFFIN along with moss for the entire NFL. i definitely didn't think UNDEFEATED because that's an enormous leap, but that's what made this team the best in the nfl in my mind. anyway, i'm kinda curious to know if i was right, and if he did make that big of a difference in the patriots' transition from excellent team to best ever team. i didn't watch a lot of the patriots, and i really haven't heard anything about him

also if i was wrong, look for the guy to potentially get better down the road. he can be a pretty wacky player, so you kinda have to work his skill set into the playbook by hand. plus, he was always the late-bloomer type who somehow manages to improve his game dramatically every year. always seemed like a pretty cool guy too, for what it's worth.

Well I don't tend to pay attention to defensive players as much as I do to offensive players (sad, but true), but looking over real-time game stats during Pats games (to try to kick hundley ass in fantasy football) I noticed Thomas was consistently at the top of the list in tackles. I got so excited during the first home game against San Diego when he had an INT return for a touchdown. For a fairly big guy, he sure can run! But that was the only one of the season. However, I remember one game where he had 9 tackles and the next closest defensive player had 4. I think that says a lot about his contribution to the team when you have guys like Bruschi and Harrison getting half as many tackles as him!. Also, he wasn't a sacking machine or anything, but he had a few games with a couple sacks.

Let me restate that. I knew when Moss was shipped out, but I remember watching the NE-NYJ when i really realized "OK, the Patriots are the team to beat this year." Spygate or not.

don't misread me! i'm not doubting the validity of anybody thinking the patriots were unstoppable after seeing their incredible off-season. i think it was a perfectly legitimate thing to think even before you saw the 2007 team hit the field.

you just kinda implied that the wes welker was one of the big motivators for your thinking that!! which i find difficult to believe, given the fact that this is WES WELKER and before this season he was nothing more than THAT GUY WHO SOMETIMES CATCHES BALLS WHEN CHRIS CHAMBERS DOESN'T

I know a lot about it... just a stupid mistake on my part. He plays a lot like a tight end though you gotta admit.

P.S. Natural its formerly Ghettofresh, just a name change so you know that I know a lot about this kind of stuff  :fogetshh: Come back foo' (not that i've been around lately either but...)

To answer your question as someone who knows what they are talking about justings (soz ASE I will teach you all you need to know let's party), Thomas has been kind of A SPECTER. They played him at MLB for a large portion of the year until colvin went down when they put him on the outside. While he had the huge interception, it just seems like he does a ton of things FAIRLY WELL but nothing he does really ever jumps out at you as being All Pro. Vrable is a better pass rusher, Bruschi is better in coverage, and Seau is the best on the team easily against the run. Although he seems very versatile, I think we need to give Coach a little bit more time to get the most out of Adalius.

Get Randy Moss off the fucking Patriots and get him to a decent team please.

Eli Manning is still a prick (encouraging shit during the Broncos game and directing stuff at Cutler who wasn't pulling any shit) but he was still impressive. Brady was the reason they loss hopefully this will kill the myth that Brady is some amazing quarterback.
