I thought marion cotillard's speech was embarrassing... "you rock my life... you rock my life... there are angels". Man, I'm sure she was excited as hell but, bleh! I just wanted it to stop.

obviously what she said was really cheesey but she was all shaky and everything. it just seemed like she meant it and she didn't have any better way to express herself than through out a bunch of cliches. that "thank you life, thank you love" was probably the worst and best part of the show.

i don't care about the oscars and i had it on the background but when she started getting silly up on the stage i kind of took notice and i guess i felt happy for her whoever she was cos i had never seen her before.

Since I didn't have Sky Premiere, I had to listen via the radio (I spent the night with my ear pressed against the speaker since I had to play it really quietly; people complain :gwa:)

But yeah, my predictions couldn't have gone more wrong, but the decisions seemed to be good. At least it was better than last year.

man, golden compass didn't deserve best visuals!

The visuals in transformers were amazing! It's bullshit that they didn't win :(

Shit Wins:

Golden Compass for Visuals over both Transformers and Pirates.

Atonement score over 3:10 to Yuma score.

Roger Deakins losing Cinematography despite a double nom for Jesse James and No Country. He must have cancelled himself out.

Cool Things:

Frontrunner Ruby Dee losing Best Supporting Actress. Seriously, she had like 5 minutes at most in American Gangster.

Bardem's speech.

An ex-stripper is now an Oscar winner. That's right - Javier Bardem.

Marion Cotillard's win. I haven't even seen the movie but man every clip I've seen with her in La Vie en Rose looked excellent. She is also now the 4th only person to win an acting Oscar for a foreign language role. The other three are Robert Deniro, Sophia Loren and Benicio Del Toro.

Ethan Coen's speech.

Josh Brolin's and James McAvoy's introduction to the Original Screenplay award.

The "Falling Slowly" Performance.

I disagree. The score in Atonement was incredible.
