A pretty good episode overall, definitely better than the previous one.

The thing is Liman, if he gets killed, I'm pretty sure the device that got attached to him on the boat is to make sure that if he dies, the whole ship blows up or something.

As for Richard, the scene where you see him looking at baby Locke....... he made me taught so much of the G-man from Half-Life that I was expecting him to say "Prepare for unforeseen consequences".

Ok, it's the best episode so far.

Again, John Locke's flashbacks were very good. I loved that part with the kid man, just sitting there picking up the items that belonged to him... Plus that part where he said "Don't tell me what I can't do" for the first time, simply epic.

I think Locke intentionally picked up the knife to not be taken in by Richard. Just a far out there theory, though they made it look like he was just not the right ONE or something like that, I think that was them trying to be misleading.

I guess we don't care about spoilers anymore. Which is fine because if you check this thread despite the name of the topic, blame yourself.

I personally think that Richard somehow knew how special Locke would be eventually and wanted to recruit him early on. When Locke failed the test however he decided to wait. Later Richard stumbles upon Ben on the island and figures that he'll do a good leader or whatever while they wait for Locke to be ready.

And finally, when the plane crashes along with Locke, the island decides to get rid of Ben.

Did anyone else pick up on the fact that both Ben and Locke's mother is named Emily?

Thats a cool theory, although it has some holes in it. Like Jack being a spinal surgeon and being able to save Ben was kind of like the Island helping Ben :/

Except of course that it has been explicitly stated that Jack was not on "Jacob's list" and wasn't supposed to do the surgery. So it was all Ben's own initiative.

About the knife I think it was something very Locke over him taking the knife, despite him probalby knowing it wasn't his. It's about what Locke wanted to be and what he was. The same with the scientist programme, Locke didn't want to become a scientist, he wanted to be the badass we all know and love him as.

Was anyone else dispointed with the captiain? I mean after a couple of episodes of people saying "dont' trust the captian!"
then the letter "don't trust the captain" I wasn't expecting him to go out as the good-guy, I mean ...damn.

Yeah, the captain's death was a real waste. Like they came up with it in two seconds because the actor had to leave or something like that. They built up his character like this mysterious guy who you weren't sure about if he was being good or bad. Then they just killed him 'like that'...

Actually, something struck me about this yesterday. You have a great point there.

What if the island didn't need Jack, but his father? What if jack was just a tool to
bring him here? That might explain why Linus had the chance to get better and
why Jack got ill.

What if some people, like Jack, were just a miscalculation?

Christian definitely has a major role in whatever the big mystery is. He's Jack's dad, Claire's dad, and he spent time with Ana Lucia. He also met Sawyer in a bar.

Tonight's episode (#12: There's No Place Like Home, Part 1) kinda sucked. I won't go into details here because the Americans still haven't seen it, but I wasn't impressed. This whole episode seemed to drag on and on and was so lacklustre. It basically set up a few scenarios to unfold for the next episode, but that's pretty much it. The next ep better be amazing.

On a random note, is anybody else a huge Richard Alpert fan? I love the mysteriousness of his character and how creepy he can be at times (ok, most of the time). I can't wait to see how his ability to not age will be explained by the writers in a scientific way.

With all the little scenarios they set up, the last episode of the season is going to be epic!

Probably time travel or something. But like I said, he makes me think of the G-Man in Half-Life.

Man, this episode didn't do a whole lot but what it set up felt just like a series finale to me. How are they going to keep this up for another two seasons?

But still. Damn. Lost is so bloody awesome.

I thought it was a pretty good episode. It was clear however that they simply used it to set up the events for the two upcoming episodes. I wouldn't be surprised if the next episode focus on Kate & Sayid with The Others while the last one focus on Locke in the Orchid.

I thought there is only one episode after this one

the next episode is supposed to be a two hour episode titled: parts 2 and 3, perhaps that is what he was referring to?
