UK mag Xbox World 360 has a 4 page feature on it this month. Click thumbs for a closer look.

I'm really upset about this. I almost starting crying while reading this stuff. If this is ever revealed to be an April Fools joke, I expect the entire writing staff for this mag to turn up dead within a week.

I think it looks great. A bit too much detail on the gound in the Dam, but atleast it isn't bump map hell like Rare's other 360 games.

It's so beautiful...

That's pretty disappointing that they were refused... I seriously hope that they change their mind and allow GoldenEye to be on Wii!
In fact, I'm going to support the cause and send an email.

God damnit, I'm gonna go play GoldenEye and be pissed off that this will never be ported.

See, if Rare or Microsoft hired someone with brains, they'd port Perfect Dark to XBLA (that's PD from the N64, not shitty PD Zero) and offer the GoldenEye levels as DLC. I'd sure as hell pay extra for the greatness. Or just replace anything Bond related with Perfect Dark stuff. Jesus, man! How stupid ARE these people!?

Sweet!
The rumor has been floating around for months now. It's nice to see that it's been confirmed. I like the fact that they seem to have left in all the animations, sound effects etc. from the original game. Wouldn't feel like GoldenEye without it.

Edit: So uh... wait, is the game cancelled all together or just on the Wii?

Cancelled. Microsoft tried to strike a deal with Nintendo to let them have it on the Virtual Console as well, but Nintendo are wankers.

The last I heard, it was still a rumor.  First, Goldeneye for the XBLA was simultaneously announced and canceled (that was about a month and a half ago).  Then this comes out.  Is it officially canceled?

And Goldeneye for the Wii would suck.  Goldeneye has horrible frame rate problems, and the Wii is weak enough as it is.  Plus, they'd never allow a shooter up on the VC--it's Nintendo!

Ahh Golden Eye, good times..

Anyways, it was looking good, and was this a remake? Didn't really think a remake would have been necessary, cool but not really needed, when the original looked good enough.

I don't see why this game keeps getting rumors of remakes.  Why would they remake this game, when it was the fact that it was the only GOOD FPS game on consoles back then?  Now there are plenty, and a remake wouldn't do the original any justice.  It can't.

No, people. Not a remake. A port with updated graphics. That's all. Everything, including the glitches, are still there.
So, original GoldenEye, just new graphics.

Most console FPS games these days still don't hold up to Goldeneye, they had a much better vision of what a first person shooter should be than most developers at the time. NOLF was very similar in design and of course there's TimeSplitters too - So we aren't missing much if this isn't released.

I would much rather see a PC mod than a console port too...

I don't know I thought Goldeneye actually kind of sucked so I can't say this is very exciting.

@Mala: Faggot. :( But no seriously, same here. I never really found Goldeneye to be that good, even when everyone and their dog was jacking off about it.

The article says that Activision was worried about their relationship with Nintendo if they were to release this.  If anything, Nintendo shouldn't make threats like that.  Not having games like Guitar Hero should be a bad thing to Nintendo, not Activision.

Yah I do agree that Goldeneye is totally nothing special. It was ok back then when it came out but has quickly aged and doesn't even hold the tiniest of candles to most modern fps games. It's (like again most things) mainly nostalga that people go on about it thinking it's perfect.

Goldeneye Source looks much better anyhow and it's for PC.

That’s right, you have the young gaming with the old(er), white people gaming with black people, men and women, Asian countries gaming with the EU, North Americans gaming with South Americans. Much like world sporting events like the Wolrd Cup, or the Olympics will bring together different nations in friendly competition, (note the recent Asian Cup; Iraq vs. Saudi Arabia, no violence there) we come together. The differences being, we are not divided by our nationalities and we do it 24-7, and on a personal level.

We are a community without borders and without colours, the spirit and diversity of the gaming community is one that should be looked up to, a spirit and diversity other groups should strive toward.

I'm usually not someone who falls for nostalgia, but Goldeneye's aged very well, considering that most console shooters are pretty bad anyway.
