I thought the writer's strike episode was one of the funniest south parks up to date.
I thought so to. I'm surprised you other guys didn't like the internet memes fight. I thought it was hilarious.

...why would it be funny?

all it is is a repetition of memes that 4chan adores. there are almost no deviations (most of the joke is that the meme plays itself out, with two exceptions being Tay Zonday pulling a gun and saying "CHOCOLATE PAIN BITCH", a decent joke, and the dramatic gopher blowing up people's brains, an incredibly obvious joke) and the humor is EXCLUSIVELY on if you recognize a worthless internet meme.

taking that into account with the incredibly stupid stance they took to the writer's strike and it's the worst episode by far of the season. they have to try to beat this one, probably with some OBAMA'S A NIGGER shit.

During that scene, it felt like I was watching Meet the Spartans.
Terrible episode.

heres a good post from SA:

Quote
Ask yourself, though. Why? Why would it have been funny?

Is it the fact that the original thing was funny?
Is it because "It's so cool that Matt and Trey have seen the same things I have!"?
Is it because it's familiar?

It's really no funnier than seeing Borat run out at the end of Epic Movie and go "Niiice!" and then get run over by the wheel thing from PotC 2. It's lazy, empty, worthless comedy that has no place in South Park. The only thing that came close was them saying that Tay Zonday is actually an egomaniacal murderer.

I mean, seriously:

"You remember Numa Numa.."
*Numa Numa song plays for 10 seconds, drawings match the original video*
"..and the Star Wars Kid.."
*Star Wars kid flails around, drawings match the original video*
"..and there's the sneezing baby panda.."
*Baby panda sneezes, drawings match the original video*
"..and there's Dramatic Look Gopher."
*Gopher looks at camera dramatically, drawings match the original video*

Tell me, please, how that is a richer and more hilarious joke than the nugget of comedy found here:

pretty much its this http://youtube.com/watch?v=2pPCkhYMQgY but less clever

That's the one thing I don't like about the recent episodes. They're just trying to fit in as much random pop culture references and stuff as they can in one episode.

And the worst part is my mom was watching it in the living room and I could hear her saying "I saw him on youtube, oh and him."

I suppose it was just a bunch of 'in jokes' for youtube users, and that it did just reference them, but you know what? I laughed... and thats pretty much all I care about... I guess you could say I'm over simplifying it... anyway I thought the fight they had was the funny part, not necessarily the unveiling of them on the show.

comment on this episode: Tonight's episode was probably the best of the episodes for this season thus far.

I don't know about that.  It seemed like two unrelated stories that weren't strong enough to hold the show on their own, and each story was just one joke over and over again anyway.

Mr garrison's story is taken from a scene in Red Drawf series 8. They just stretched it out over an episode.

I just watched the new one, and we've seen Cartman have authority too many times for it to be funny anymore, especially when he's putting on a horrid accent.  As for Mr Garrison, I saw this coming from the moment he became a lesbian.

Cartman's story was a Stand and Deliver parody (if you didn't know) which was funny because the kids actually (safer to say probably) cheated. Even so, they did a poor job even with that.

It looks like they could have found more examples than just the Patriots cheating, too.

i enjoyed this one a lot. i thought the penis singing was a bit over the top, but it's a reference to An American Tail apparently.

the penis episode was fucking disturbing. I really really liked the Freedom Writers-esque sub-plot tho.

That's how Southpark works.  It literally takes them less than a month to make a single episode and when they do topical comedy they'll create bits and pieces of episode, wait until something funny happens in the news, then try to edit that bit of newsworthy material into the unfinished episode.

It's starting to look like they might be better suited for radio than television.

I miss back when they first released the movie. I love musicals.

Tonight's episode was retarded. And I can't believe they were able to show Randy covered in cum on tv.
