Thats kind of cool, I was looking for new bands the other day and one of the CDs I came across was Blessed Be Our Ever After. Not to much into the hardcore scene though.

Been listening to them a bit lately, they are quite good. Kind of like Anathallo and Page France mixed together or something.

Raein

I've been listening to a lot of Raein. Probably one of my favorite screamo band, they just have this very gripping and powerful sound. The screams take time to get used to, but after a while they just seem so natural to the song. I've been listening to mainly Il N'y A Pas D'Orchestre, but I've been trying to get my hands on anything else they've done. But yeah, probably one of the best screamo bands I've ever heard, and probably one of the few screamo bands I actually enjoy.

Final Fantasy (aka Owen Pallet) - Has a Good Home





This guy is pretty great (despite horrible name (this also made finding his music really hard for me)), he's a Toronto indie artist whose songs are predominantly violin and he uses various effects and sometimes piano in his songs. The themes are sometimes horrible (DUNGEONS AND DRAGONS) but he sometimes has really good ones you can connect with as well.  I dunno, it's just pretty UNIQUE because it's just violin. 
I've discovered him from seeing him perform with Do Make Say Think last year on Canada Day and fell in love ever since. I'm going to be seeing him again April 8th with Jens Lekman (who is also pretty great), so if you haven't heard of either and aren't only into hardcore then you should check them out!

They were the first screamo band I've heard. I didn't really like La Quiete much(even though its pretty much Raein), nor saetia, nor many of the other bands around that genre, but Raein and Envy pretty much equal up 90% of the screamo I listen to. Like you said, at times it just seems like I'm listening to the same thing. But I enjoy it more than the modern metalcore scene. I'm seriously getting tired of breakdowns every friggin song.

Sikth - The Trees Are Dead & Dried Out Waiting for Something Wild

Awesome album. Sikth's more spastic album compared to Death of a Dead Day. I'm still blown away by scent of the obscene and wait for something wild. It has so many amazing song on here, definitely a great recored. The vocals took a long time for me to get into, especially Mikee's. But once you can get into them, it really makes the songs stand out even more.

I think ATARI and maybe some other people who visit #music remember how I used to say SikTh are horrible but yeah, then I got used to the vocals through listening to other bands and I have liked them ever since.

Sinew - The Beauty of Contrast

I decided to download this album after reading some review which recommended it for fans of dredg and Muse. 30 seconds into the album there's already a part which greatly reminds me of dredg, but overall it's not really all that similar, although I can see the similarities as both play melodic and catchy rock, though Sinew gets a bit heavier than dredg sometimes. The first song, The Allegory Of The Cave, shows promise with catchy melodies, cool instrumental parts and some hardcore vocals near the end. While being pretty good, unfortunately most of the songs on The Beauty of Contrast don't really that much of an impression. There are a few great songs but most of the album is kinda memorable and that might be the main reason why the album feels a bit repetitive, and it's not too daring either. So basically Sinew's debut is nothing groundbreaking but if you are into groups such as Fair to Midland or dredg and other good rock and looking for a new album, check it out. It's good, and for a debut the producing is very well done too. A promising group.

Porcupine Tree - Lightbulb Sun (2008 reissue)

How I have waited for this.....

Although it's a new mix, it's not really all that different from the original 2000 version. It has small improvements here and there and the largest difference is that The Rest Will Flow is played at the speed it was recorded, while it was sped up a bit on the original album. The reissue comes with 5.1 mix of the album, the original mix plus some Porcupine Tree b-sides in 5.1. I also got a bonus CD with two rarities on it. I hadn't heard one of them (called Novak) so that was a nice addition.

That aside, Lightbulb Sun has always been one of my favorite albums and it shows a more poppy side of Porcupine Tree, first half of the album anyway, as it gets a bit different at Hatesong. It's got some of my favorite PT songs such as the aforementioned Hatesong and Shesmovedon, both which I prefer live but they are great on the album as well. If you are into rock but couldn't get into Porcupine Tree's newer albums with some metal influences, you should give this a try, it's accessible and simply a great album.

Listening to a collaboration album. It has some of the biggest Drum & Bass artists on it like
Spor, Evol Intent, Phace and Ewun. Some of you know these guys and heard this record?

Utada Hikaru - Ultra Blue

So yeah, the only J-POP artist I've been able to get into. I really REALLY like her voice. I don't know why but it mellows me out, and most of the tracks on this album are pretty mellow. Stand out tracks for me are definitely Passion, Keep Trying and Kairo.

I'm really getting into more Coheed and Cambria, since their new album came out, it's pretty much all I've wanted to listen to. I did buy the Porcupine Tree DVD though, and thought that was pretty awesome.
