The teacher wouldn't let the kids leave the classroom to use the washroom, but instead forced him to either humiliate himself by GOING IN FRONT OF THE CLASS or WETTING HIS PANTS.

The district says teachers have to allow students to use the restroom.

Haha, you made me reminisce. I don't remember too much of it, but back when I was really young (in first grade) I went out for recess but forgot to go to the bathroom during lunch. I went back and tried to go in the building to use the restroom but I guess the person supervising recess didn't like that? I wasn't allowed back into the building for reasons unknown to me (I guess they thought I'd cause mischeif and not go to the bathroom). I really had to go though so I went over to the side of the building and pissed on the building. Some bitch caught me (don't remember if it was the same chick who said I couldn't go inside) and took me to the principal's office. So I was about to get suspended over this and my mom was outraged. She went in on my behalf (first grade remember) and pretty much got an apology for the whole ordeal from the principal.

Yeah. How do some of you not get why this was WRONG?

Children are taught to listen to their teachers, so if the teacher gives them TWO CHOICES they aren't likely to say HEY THIS IS PRETTY UNREASONABLE, I'M GOING TO THE WASHROOM. Some of you are making it seem like this was a joke on the teachers part, when pretty clearly it wasn't. I mean, I'm sure she didn't think anyone would take her up the lunchbox thing, but if she hadn't proposed it wouldn't have happened. Even worse was, that when it did happen, she didn't stop it. She allowed the entire class to witness this, which would be traumatic for any child, because we're taught that this is a private action.

She was in the wrong and that's all there is to it. If she had a problem with kids 'going to the washroom' and then wasting time outside of class, that's something she could have dealt with on an individual basis with the parents and principal for the problematic students, rather than taking it out on the entire class. It was poor judgement on her part and she does deserve to be punished.

edit: actually marcus i am not sure if the quote is supposed to read like "is a high school student more likely to...?" because the way you phrased it could mean something entirely different so idk which you were trying to get across there. I said 'yeah' because I suspect you're trying to point out that a high school student is old enough to figure out a reasonable choice.

edit edit: after re-reading your post (before the one I quoted) it seems like you think this kid was dumb for obeying the authority figure who is supposed to teach them the right thing to do. while at 13 you should be pretty capable of thinking on your own, the fact that he's 13 in sixth grade kind of leads me to believe he's probably not a NORMAL (i am saying he was likely slow) 13 year old, which is why he was the one who ended up doing it.
