I saw this together with absolutely had to share it, I found this to be terrible. A Wisconsin girl had ketoacidosis, which is a treatable form of diabetes. So, the parents decided to pray instead of taking her to a doctor. This makes me mad together with a little upset that a family would do this, do they seriously think their religion would help them that much. Here is a link to the article.

These people are irresponsible and should not be allowed to raise children. It's pretty bewildering that there can be people living in the Occident that refuse to have anything to do with modern medicine to begin with, and it disgusts me that these people have now practically caused the death of an 11-year-old girl.

whatever.  people are dumb and blah blah blah, but i think the worst part is that even after this, they're somehow completely unshaken in their faith.  like, their daughter got sick, they prayed, she still died, and that's the end of it.  their entire attitude is so... resigned.  SUX but the lord giveth and the lord taketh away!  it's really kind of depressing that anyone can relinquish control of their lives over to something that's not even there so completely that they could lose a daughter, whose death could've been easily prevented BY THEM, and not express any remorse for their actions or doubt in their faith.  you'd think at the very least they'd be like, "we should've done something instead of just praying," or maybe even have some type of religious epiphany and realize that they should be angry, not resigned, that whoever they worshiped so completely would just decided to take their daughter, and that's that.  i bet they're sitting in their family room saying, "it was just her time."  people like this are disgusting and frustrating to deal with, because there's really no way to make them face what they did.

On the other hand, if there were more people like this we'd have an easy cure
for over-population. Natural selection has uses.

Of course, in this time and age, that's out of the question. These people are lunatics.

This makes me sad...
God put people on this planet to discover medicine for a reason.

Reminds me of a story...

A man was drowning, a boat came by to save him, he said he did not need saving, that God was going to save him. Two more people came by, but the same thing happened. He then died and went to heaven. He asked God why he didn't save him, and God said that he sent three people to save him, but he refused them all!

And please don't generalize all Christians based on ones like this...

Even though I'm not in favor of any kind of religion, severe idiocy is found in all
classes of civilisation. One needn't be a Christian or of any other religion to
classify as a complete retard.

These just happened to be christians.

Bah, it will hit them sooner or later that she could be alive right now, but shes not, and its their fault.

Its also very possible they dismiss the whole thing as God testing their faith (like they do with dinosaur bones and the like), which is pretty insulting to the memory of the girl, reducing her to like, a mere instrument at the hands of God to put her parents in a challenge.

Man I hate devout followers. They're always SO FUCKING STUPID, thinking that there is a reason behind everything that happens, shit is never their fault, and so forth.

Give these two hopeless fucking rejects AIDs and we'll see how strongly they believe that God will answer their prayers and heal them. Actually, I think they deserve Leprosy.

Oh dear no. What if their leprosy gets cured by some absurdly improbable twist of fate, and then they proceed to infect humanity whole with it so they can share with us their religious experience of being touched by the curing hands of their loving god? C...careful what you wish for mr Hibiki...

God I FUCKING hate christians.

This isn't representative of the majority of christians AT ALL.

But yea these people are pretty fucking stupid. Part of me almost wanted to laugh at them for failing in their prayers but then I remembered a little girl died. :(

People like this are unbelievably retarded, and I cannot comprehend how they are so... not-caring about their own daughter.

You know, having faith in a celestial Papa-Smurf is cool and all but shit like this is just utterly retarded.
It makes me sad that a religion that (supposedly)promotes love has believers that would do such a thing.
People really need to shake the magic off their heads, I guess.

Basically by these people's logic, God wants:

- their daughter to be dead
- them to be in jail
- their other children to be taken away

Also if either of those last two things AREN'T happening to them, I will be pretty fucking upset.

Shut up. A situation like this isn't representative or indicative of the average or the majority of Christians in any way shape or form. Any other rational Christian would be just as angry at this as any atheist. I hate it when people take unusual or isolated cases like this and try to apply them to the whole of Christianity.

And just for the record, this is incredibly disgusting, and it's sad that a little girl died, and nobody seemed to walk away from this with ANYTHING.

I thought the Bible was supposed to teach that leaving everything up to God doesn't mean He's automatically going to do what is in your best interests. You can't just ignore your ability to control fate, and I don't think God would appreciate people putting the responsibility for her life in His hands.

Hey, how about this. I'm going to stop going to the grocery store because I can pray to God for food. If he doesn't feed me, then it means I was fated to starve to death and it is all part of His divine plan.

Why can't the family just let them treat her medically and then say: "God told us to do it."
