oh btw, for those of you volunteering for roles, if you don't get the one you want, is it okay if I stick you in the potential jury pool? I'm hoping yes but if you just DONT WANT TO, okay!

at first i didn't think it'd be such a hot idea if i joined in, but since i was saying HEY YOU SHOULD DO THIS, i'd kind of feel gay if after suggesting it i didn't even try to do anything, so yeah i wanna be involved!  idk maybe prosecution or defense or something, but i suspect i will be torn to pieces, so if not that then just a juror.  also, are there any ways you have to type when cross examining and shit?  like, are you relegated to playing a role, and acting appropriately given you're in court, or are we going to look forward to a trial full of steeling?

you gotta act appropriately. so yeah, that means no "great so you're a soulless shit" or "LOOK AT ME IM YOU IM GAY". without going into too much detail, attorneys can't lead witnesses on, and that includes berating them. as prosecution, you're here to present the evidence and testimony in a light favorable to the complainant, as defense you're trying to poke holes in it.

as an example, if a witness was a doctor and presented a great deal of evidence about how the person couldn't do it, you could then ask them what their degree was in and get them admit its religious studies. something like that is fine. you can also stop witnesses from conjecturing too far by objecting, but okay now I'm writing too much, basically yeah it's slightly formal.

okay so this is what we have now (PTizzle I assumed "minor role" meant witness). I'd like at least one other person to volunteer for judge so it isn't automatically Bondo. there's 21 jurors, which is a decent sized pool, but I'd like to get more (everywhere obviously, not just in the jury pool; if you want to play I'm putting you in the pool automatically unless you don't want to be in it). so I'm thinking till midnight tonight I'll leave this open for people to join up.

that was an error on my part earlier in the topic. victim tends to be only used with rape, assault, and murder cases (where the victim obviously doesn't testify). I didn't want to imply it was one of those, so I used complainant instead (which can be applied to all cases).

considering half of them aren't citizens or are underage, I think Batson is a little high end.

I'd like to see how this goes. I'm interested in becoming a lawyer, but I've never actually been exposed to the intricacies of a trial. Maybe if this is successful, I'll totally want to be an attorney for the next one.
