Just FYI SMT3's full title is Shin Megami Tensei 3: Nocturne.
Except you said P3 which to me means Persona 3, since it's also a Shin Megami Tensei game.

No, I said that Hama is instant death and can kill the main characters in the Persona series and SMT3, then pointed out that the only Persona game where the main character dying matters is Persona 3.

just in standard RPGs: SMT: Nocturne
including turn based SRPG: Final Fantasy Tactics. The Elmdor fight. My god.

Is that where Ramza fought 1v1? Or was it the Wiegraf battle? Because that one on one battle gave me hell. You HAD to be a monk to have learned chakra and earth slash (or whatever the name is) to even stand a chance. I restarted the game atleast 3-4 times from that point just to go back and start over. Beat it finally though.

Untrue. You could become a squire and use the skills that bring up your speed, strength and bravery so he cant touch you and you get double turns on hm lol. If anything, the 1vs1 part is the EASY part of that battle. The second half is hell cause the fucking enemies hit like 200+ damage off you.

Subterranean for the Genesis was the hardest game I've played. It's a kind of space ship shooter, and idk how to explain what type it is (not topdown view or sidescroller). But the controls take a while to get use to, and it has a pretty short fuel meter. If you don't understand and want to understand, just download it or something.

I tend to find a lot of them hard.
I give up within a few hours.

I don;t mean hard I mean SNOOZE boring. Making me go through the same repetative shit system over and over again against different coloured floating skulls. (ff tactics advance is the most boring game ever created. like MATHS ADVENTURE contains more fun.)
Aztec you silly jewep

but when theay are not boring they are the easiest games ever invented (some final fantasies, chrono trigger, zoids legacy, pokemon etc etc)

The hardest turn-based game is final fantasy X-2. I had to train over 40 LEVELS just to beat Azi Dahaka, i think it's name was. But as soon as i beat him my idiot brother accidentally saved over my game.

Definitely Legend of Legaia.
That's one of those games that I used to rent all the time as a kid, but was too dumb to actually buy, and now it's fairly expensive.

Anyway, I remember the first boss taking almost an hour to beat.  Needless to say, I didn't get much farther than that.  I'd still like to pick up a copy sometime and see if it is actually as tough as I remember it.

Immediately after reading this topic, only one game came to mind.

7th Saga is the hardest turn-based RPG I have ever played, it's literally impossible unless you grind for a good 100 hours or so.

ahahaha man i remember 7th saga.  i chose LUX (HE IS A TETUJIN) and he started off being way better than everyone else but he used his fists instead of weapons so he scaled really poorly and as a result by the time i got to the last area or w/e he was literally hitting every enemy for like ONE DAMAGE POINT so i just turned it off and forgot about it.  what a ridiculous game that was.

Dual Orb 2

Hahaha I recall that I got stuck during the "Barrel Puzzle" for like a month! I just gave up...cause I tried using walktroughs and everything but no luck..and you cant really gameshark a puzzle... so I just dropped it :(

The actual rpg elements were okay...just lots of grind.

Stupid game.  I thought it was pretty good really but yeah the grinding is out of control and some of the characters are useless.  It's important to note however that the original Japanese game was tons easier that if you really want to you can download a difficulty fix patch.  The Japanese version is apparently pretty balanced and fun.

Star Ocean The Second Story.... Beating Indalecio is a bitch with his limiter off.

Wait nvm... I just realized the topic was about TURN BASED RPG's as in no ATB.
