Before I begin:
imdbWikiI don't know if this is a common thing AROUND THE WORLD or anything, but a lot of the people I know really seem to dislike Eyes Wide Shut. I remember about four years ago a friend of mine was talking to a film teacher we had and he said "It's a shame that Stanley Kubrick's last movie was Eyes Wide Shut" and the teacher (and another teacher that was with him now that I think about it) laughed and agreed. I have a lot of respect for that teacher (and, at the time, my friend BUT IM NOT GOING TO GET INTO THAT) so I figured "huh I guess it sucks" and I put it off until about two and a half hours ago.
And I really like it! I didn't really have any problems with the film other than the fact Tom Cruise is an ok actor at best and it's clear that Nicole Kidman has never smoked weed in her life. Other than that... I don't know, I can't really remember if there was anything that I particularly disliked about it, which either means that there wasn't anything else that I disliked or it was something near the beginning that wasn't a very big deal anyway.
So I guess I'm making this topic because I want to know whether or not I'm the only person ever who liked this movie. Because I really liked it. But maybe I'm wrong and a lot of people do like it. I don't know! That's what I'm trying to find out.
Also I want to get a good discussion about what the movie was about, because not everything is spoon fed to you and I'm PRETTY SURE that Victor was lying to Bill at the end of the movie. I'll post my own theories or whatever later once the topic gets going so yeah get the topic going guys.
p.s.: the fucking orgy scene was creepy as hell man and i'm a douchebag so maybe that's why i liked it so much
edit: This was on rotten tomatoes:
What's the biggest surprise of Eyes Wide Shut? It would be that Kubrick has nearly made a David Lynch movie.
I kind of thought the same thing but then again I compare everything to David Lynch because I'm a douchebag so don't mind me.
Also remember that I am obligated to bring up David Lynch in every topic ever.
