welp i gotta say... them women are freaky lol!! i'd like to room with one of them :naughty:

That’s right, you have the young gaming with the old(er), white people gaming with black people, men and women, Asian countries gaming with the EU, North Americans gaming with South Americans. Much like world sporting events like the Wolrd Cup, or the Olympics will bring together different nations in friendly competition, (note the recent Asian Cup; Iraq vs. Saudi Arabia, no violence there) we come together. The differences being, we are not divided by our nationalities and we do it 24-7, and on a personal level.

We are a community without borders and without colours, the spirit and diversity of the gaming community is one that should be looked up to, a spirit and diversity other groups should strive toward.

This topic is why I don't bother with most of the world today. I don't put myself above them like an ass, but honestly speaking, I don't want anything to do with the general public. It seems as though people with decency and moral values are either called "crazy religious people" or "close-minded." As always, people will do what they want to do, such as pretending a straight male can live with a straight woman without any sexual tension, or the fact that cohabitation is alright in the first place, but hey, whatever.

All I'm going to say is, a guy shouldn't be trusted with that kind of self control.
I'm gonna get warned for this but here goes nothing!

fun fact: the biggest group of people you share this opinion with are fat conversative women

Are you serious? Real talk man, are you for real? Or are you really implying that someone would be attracted to their siblings just as they would an unrelated female?

Uh, I don't care for labels, but I guess you've never heard of...sXe? If I were to be put in any group, it would have to be that one.

Guys are not as sex crazed as you think they are ok. Not only does the average guy not want sex with random girls he doesn't know about (b...but....the boobs......) but the average guy sure as hell wouldn't want to be fucking someone he has to live with, especially if they are unrelated. If that shit gets fucked up, you're not going to be enjoying your stay, as you're going to be seeing that chick ALL. THE. TIME.

no I'm saying that the expression "she's like a sister to me" actually means something. everyone isn't suddenly attracted to the opposite gender no matter what, just like you wouldn't have sex with your sister and a gaping dog's vagina won't give you an erection.

what's weird about your post is the covert sexism in it. it's always the guy who is going to be horny and "unable to handle himself" which is the same kind of justification a lot of rapists use. the women's consent isn't the issue, all men are just naturally "going to be that way" and I guess by being a woman she puts herself at risk...

I'm sure you run into plenty of women you wouldn't have sex with, even somewhat attractive ones. it'll be awkward for all of ten minutes and then that SISTER thing sets in because you can't really GET IT ON with someone whom you aren't attracted to. believe it or not there's nothing biological keeping you from having a boner from your sister. it's the same thing, I'd never have sex with, hell, most the women I know, even if the opportunity presented itself, because that would be REALLY FUCKING CREEPY

That's a good point. If someone is like a brother or sister to you, then they may as well be your brother or sister. I'm referring to situations where that is not the case.

I only mentioned men because I am a guy myself and most guys at this age, realistically speaking, have raging hormones. Regardless of the level of your self control, the feeling is still there. Living with a member of the opposite sex that you find attractive, such as a buddy, is a test of that unlike any other. Show me a guy that says he can live with one of his friends that happen to be a hot chick without having any impure thoughts and I'll show you a liar. Though it is probably the same for both genders, I don't speak for women because I'm not one myself, if that makes any sense. I don't know how their bodies operate and can only speak from the experience of being a dude.

Of course, but aren't you taking this out of context? I'm specifically talking about living together.

Regardless of whether you think it's possible for a dude and a chick to room together, I'm still against the idea as a preference based on my beliefs, which is why once I think about it, there's really no point to this debate, though I am guilty of starting it.

Ya they're going to think impure thoughts, if you're hot so is the woman. It's called self control, something that both parties will probably exhibit, because just because you think someone is hot doesn't mean you bone them, we call that rape.

Nope, I'm 20 and I don't really have RAGING hormones.  Sex is cool, but it is not RAGING IN ME and I am not really that driven to get it all the time (music is more important bitches get in the way etc).

Also impure thoughts?

Dude, dude, dude. I'm not calling people crazy rapists that want to have sex with every woman they see, I'm saying that living together changes things entirely. You would be in the face of temptation 24 hours a day, that is of course, if you are attracted even a little to your room mate, and if you're not, then that's not the situation I'm referring to like I said earlier.

ya, it means I'm going to be living with someone who if I did screw and something bad happened i would be hearing about it every day forever.

would avoid having sex with it like the plague i don't care if she's the hottest woman in the world it isn't worth going through hell every day possibly.

you'll notice in the article they say its people who think of them as sisters/brothers, or people who are already dating.

i don't think any college student is dumb enough to room with someone for a one night stand or something. even a sex buddy wouldn't be worth living with.

To debate coed dorm rooms is one thing but to say society today, especially among this age group, isn't obsessed with sex is almost ridiculous. I guarantee you, go to a local high school or college. 90% of the conversations you eavesdrop on will be about sex. Not even that, go anywhere. Watch a popular television channel, such as MTV or G4. A lot of the shows will be featured around sex. Watch the latest hip hop music video. They will either be about sex or feature women symbolizing it. To not have sex on the mind is to be in the minority. For one to be ignorant of that fact they would have to be withdrawn from society itself, minimum if any contact with unrelated people, and limited to no access to any forms of media.

hahaha do you just NOT GET IT??? THIS JUST IN  - THERE IS SEX ON TV

big deal. everyone knows this. The problem here is that you are assuming that every guy is a weak-minded individual with no autonomy who, because Tila Tequla says spanking schoolgirls is fun, are sex-craved lunatics who gotta fuck every woman they know.

This is ridiculous. You're the one who is falling into the media trap if you're assuming that because 100% of the young men on MTV reality shows want to bang every chick around them, that males are all like this IN REAL LIFE. Sure, you can find man-whores in every college building but to pretty much assert that GUYS CAN'T BE JUST FRIENDS WITH GIRLS is pretty bullshit!

Hint: Choosing a Co-ed dorm room does not mean a guy fills out an application, checks the box that says "YES I WOULD LIKE A FUCK BUDDY" and then gets randomly placed with a female. These are MUTUAL processes for a reason. Obviously a guy and a girl who barely know each other are not going to choose to live together. We're talking long-time high school friends who got into the same colleges and would rather room with each other than random people. Trust is kept in check because if the guy IS a sex-lunatic (which you believe to be the majority of cases) then the female friend probably knows this and will refuse to room with the guy!

Basically, you are dumb for thinking WHEN PEOPLE ARE IN ROOMS THEY WANT TO HAVE SEX. You must be in that stage of development where you want to hump everything with 4 legs and (since you have proven to us that you don't have any female friends) settle for armchairs. I guess you don't understand that guys can be friends with girls that they don't find sexually appealing... like... AT ALL. I have a few female friends who I trust a lot and talk to about my problems but no way in hell would I ever want to hump!

Whatcha talkin bout Willis? You're completely on to something I wasn't even talking about. I was specifically making a statement about society and it's fasicination with everything sex. I didn't mention people having friends who they don't want to fuck and all that, as that deals with the coed situation which I don't see the point in debating any further.

ASE, you're making statements that I have already addressed, most of them about my personal preferences and how I'm not for the idea, and I don't feel like going over them again. The only difference is that while I was intelligently able to discuss this with the others, you felt the need to throw insults around because I guess it further validates your points and also makes you feel cool?

great! it's not like the entire point of this topic was to talk about why some people would be uncomfortable with cohabitation....

the point in debating further is because you refuse to back down from your belief that if you put any guy in a room with any girl there will be "sexual tension" and they GOTTA HAVE SEX

It's something like that, but more of the sexual tension part instead of the crazy rapist mentality. Though more importantly, I'm against the idea of cohabitation. So either way, I'm against it, but that's just my belief. I'm not going to change mine, you're not going to change yours. I mean it's cool. Let's leave it at that. I don't expect everyone to agree with me or vice versa.

yes I noticed it was off topic too since I never said anything about society's oversexualizaton of everything.

protip: the oversexualization of stuff hasn't resulted in higher general sexuality but in objectifying women. if you want to stretch that objectification to increased sexual tension okay but I think that ignores the vast amount of men who while potentially oversexed will not necessarily have sex with every two legged creature with a vagina that happens to live with them.

also as ASE said no one who does this will be an oversexed loser.

Not necessarily true, but that would be the gist of the whole idea. There are
many girls who can get along better with guys and vice versa.

The oversexuality vibe I'm getting in this topic is ridiculous though.

The idea that putting girls and guys in the same room will inevitably turn into
sexual tension is flatout laughable. Saying that all guys are in essence sexual
lunatics is both disturbing, discriminating and biased. Sex may be hella fun, and
reproduction may be in everyones nature, but people who function normally
and are not assholes can in essence be great roommates.

Sure, in theory, if two people really like each other, something may happen. that's
a way of life. But when you're living together with friends, you're probably going
to aim your sexuality at someone who is not living with you (as was said before).

I don't believe the whole thing because I've been through it. I've lived together
with multiple guys and females in one house (including good-looking females) and
I really don't want to fuck them. Sure, they may be cute and have a vagina, but
you don't go around fucking your friends and roomies just because you, in essence,
could. That's just not how shit works.

I'm not denying the existence of these so called sexual lunatics, but I'm pretty sure
these kinds of things are pretty well handled. If girls don't trust the second party,
There is no way they'll be wanting to live in the same dorm, and I guess the
supervisors are very much aware of the consequences might something go wrong.

Actually, I think it would be hella fun to live in a mixed gender dorm. Girls are fun,
and only hanging with guys gets really freezin' annoying after a while. I think it's
good for ones upbringing and education to live in a mixed dorm, simply because
maybe this way people will start respecting each other more. Seperated dorms
only increase this 'sexual tenstion'.
The only thing dumber than an argument on the Internet is the same argument in real life.
