For me sometimes an opening scene can make or break a game... sometimes I don't even play the game but I love the intro..anyways what are some awesome intros that really got you pumped for a game? I'm asking for the best of the best here...

Soul Edge
Even after all this year its still awesome,in my opinion its better than the new Soul Calibur intros, idk everything about it is cool...the animation..cool theme song,OWNS!

Eureka Seven Volume 2 : The New Vision
You might argue that the game sucks and blah blah blah...but I really dig the little tune at intro, gets me pumped everytime and the animation is really nice

Persona 3 FES Edition
Its the first time in my life an intro actually got me exited enough to buy a game..nuff said

Well those are just a couple feel free to post cool intros that you know...

Out of all the vidya's I have played (or atleast can remember) there are only two that I will forever hold in my brain as having the coolest intros.  Those are:

The Darkness
(this video isn't as cool because the dude cut the music out but the scene is 10x better with the music playing on a bigscreen television)

and

Deus Ex

The Darkness' intro was just one big interactive action sequence and it did a good job throwing you into the game.  I love it when games kick off with a boom.  Deus Ex was cool because they basically recapped everything that was happening through the two main badguys and the soundtrack was pretty kickass.

Honorable mentions go to

Super Mario RPG: Alluding to older mario games by having to storm Bowser's castle and rescue Peach was a nice touch even though Bowser isn't the main villain.

BioShock: Simple, short, elegant.  Loved it.

Final Fantasy 7: Didn't really care for the game but the intro was great.  More games need to get to the fucking point instead of WHITE TEXT BLACK SCREEN

I should point out that the intro is one of the most important parts of a game for me.  Too many games feature these long drawn out and boring opening sequences and I start thinking to myself.  When I think to myself, I become disconnected with the game world, grow bored and then shut off the game.  The intro should grab you by the balls, grip them hard, then ease off once you're reeling from pain.  FF7 started off with a dungeon right off the back and shit blowing up then it proceeded into about an hour of backstory and talking to people.  That was cool.  I appreciated that.

I loved FFVI's introduction.

Nothing like three Magitek Robots marching through a winter wasteland that doesn't actually exist in-game...

Starcraft/Warcraft III had awesome intros, imo. Blizzard does some really amazing cinematics that just make me feel all warm and fuzzy on the inside.

Onimusha 3 has a pretty damn good opening.

Also the Escaflowne movie has a great opening.

Also they both have some pretty similar thematic elements to them.

Since I am gay for Rock Band, I'm going to throw in the intro where they're rocking out on top of cars and buses and shit

Don't care what you say. I will never forget RESCUE : the Embassy Mission's intro. That drew me into gaming like a trail of smarties to a fat kid.
RESCUE: The Embassy Mission

And before ever playing Resident Evil, or Silent Hill... or any of those 'survival horror' games... I played D. My all-time favourite game of horror. You play in first person, a la myst, solving problems, getting brutally murdered if you fail, and you only have 1 (or 2, I forget) hours to beat it. If you took longer, it would be game over because by then it's too late.
I love this game, and the opening hospital scene grabbed my chest hair and drew me in to the world of D. GET INTO IT!
D on Youtube! The Future is Friendly.

(now if you'll excuse me, I'll just go watch part 1 and 2. It's awesome.)

First thing that popped into my head is the first 15 minutes of Vagrant Story. It sets the mood for the game, introduces the major characters, includes some fun fights, and has (IMO) great music that progresses depending on how fast you move through the opening. For a game, it's really well put together.

You beat me to it, the opening to Vagrant Story was great.

Metroid Prime had a good introduction, exploring the abandoned space frigate orpheon in response to a distress signal before it crashes onto the nearby planet. Made a great introductory sequence and returning to the flooded wreckage later was a nice touch.

I'm really biased but I'm gonna have to say Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne.

The world asplodes, you get force-fed a parasite that turns you into a demon, the elevator becomes a portal to what is essentially hell, etc.

I love Symphony of the Night's intro, having you play something similar to the previous game's last stage as the first part of the next game was an awesome idea.

Brave Fencer Musashi had a pretty good intro as well. Fighting through a dungeon area then running down the side of a tower with a statue head behind you and then right after that fighting a boss which requires you to throw him through 2 walls and then off a cliff (you start the battle in a castle and end in a town) is a good way to start a game.

I'll also say DMC3's intro. It just has a special place in my heart because in just those like 5 minutes including the cinematic and playable part it seems like the developers were trying to tell you this game ISN'T like DMC2, it's like part 1 only we've stepped it up a notch.

I mostly brought it up because I can never watch the Onimusha 3 opening without thinking of it.

I very much so did not do this; I hate Onimusha 3.  The game never gets anywhere near as awesome as that opening movie and I sort of think that's a problem.  When the first five minutes of cutscene are better than the entire game, the game's got some issues.

I'm pretty partial to Suikoden 3's intro. I like the song I guess.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ec8F7CoOuOA

I also just really like the game so maybe that's it. I mean, the intro is filled with generic anime moments like wind blowing beautifulgirl's hair/leaves and boyishly handsome hero standing at cliff looking out at the setting sun etc but I like it.

Also makes me wish they turned Suikoden 3 into an anime as well as the manga. I think it'd probably be a good watch.
