: If need be, does he believe The Joker will be recast, and if not, who’s the next villain?…

“I don’t see why not. I mean, they did it with Katie Holmes’ character. I understand that this is a different circumstance, but I think another actor could do the job. I think Heath would want another actor to do the job.” Oldman then took a moment to think about it some more, “Maybe we don’t need the Joker. Because we’ll have The Riddler.”

This came from an interview with Gary Oldman, perhaps the Riddler is the next villain?

I know that's what the Joker said, I just wasn't all to convinced that he was being 100% truthful to them.

To answer your question with a question: Which would cause the most chaos?

Yeah, Joker isn't really looking to punish those who would choose to do it, but more to sow chaos and anarchy.

I was with you Mateui.  The first time I saw it I was waiting on one boat to try to detonate the other and really blow themselves up, simply because that's what I thought the Joker would do.  I know he's trying to cause chaos and everything but really it would have the same effect.

Do you guys notice how watching the scene kind of puts the viewer in chaos too? We kind of want one boat to push the button and we also don't want them too. When the guy throws it out the window we want the other boat to do the same because we want to see a mutual trust of not falling for the trick. But it also opens the possibility that the detonator blows up themselves in which case it would be good for them to throw it out. Then 12:00 rolls by and no one has died, the stability of joker's plan has been interrupted by batman. Therefore it becomes more chaotic and jumbled. You can also see this through batman's sonar vision. Nothing is concrete, just a bunch of sounds producing fluxing images, which is a very chaotic view. And it also gets a bit chaotic with the swiftness of the camera following the action of batman fighting the dudes and the joker.

It's not just a theme of joker's character. It's actually embedded into the style of the film. Joker is only the "agent of chaos" a way to kind of directly deliver it to the people in the movie.

all you stupids debating what a superheroe is.
a superhero has:
1) amazing prowess
2) will to help others without expecting exchange.
3) These heroics are extracurricular. Not a job in which they get money from.

Superman meets these qualities.
Batman meets these qualities.
James Bond meets the first. The second is debatable. And doesn't meet the third.

And to me, the super in superhero is a combination between prowess(not exactly power) and regular frequency of heroics.

So that's my fucking definition for superheroes.

It's kind of silly to bring this up again, it's CLEARLY DEBATABLE.

Plus, there are dozens of government paid superheroes, so your third criteria is defunct.

Haha I can't tell if you're serious. That wouldn't be the worst argument in this thread.
Pretty much SHIELD as a whole, a few of the Watchmen?, Weapon X, etc... are all contracted superheroes.

Anyway, here's a list of the records the Dark knight broke:
widest release (4,366 theaters)
biggest midnight opening ($18.5M)
biggest opening weekend ($158.4M)
biggest July opener ($158.4M)
biggest PG-13 rated opening ($158.4M)
biggest single day ($67.2M)
biggest opening day ($67.2M)
biggest Friday ($67.2M)
biggest Sunday ($43.6M)
biggest IMAX opening ($6.3M)
fastest to $200M in five days ($203.8M)

Saw it today and it was just as good as I hoped it would be. Usually when you are hyped about a movie you end up disappointed but I enjoyed every second of The Dark Knight. Easily the best movie of the year so far.

Saw it today as well. In fact, I just got back from watching it. Man, there was so much going on I still haven't taken it all in. It's by far the best movie this year (best I've seen for a good while) and easily the best Batman film... possibly forever. I can't find any faults with the film other than . Bale's voice as Batman didn't bother me at all as some people complained about. I definitely have to see this once more in the theatres because I can't wait for the DVD. I'm also with Mateui about the

As for Heath Ledger... who? I didn't see him in the film. He totally becomes the Joker and as many already mentioned, you can hardly wait for his next scenes. It's terrible that we never get to see more of the character. Ledger did a bang up job with him and he even gave me the chills once or twice. I can never see Tim Burtons Batman version with Jack Nicholson (lol) again after this. He deserves all the praise he recieved for the role, no doubt. It felt a bit weird .

As of right now I love this movie. The hype is well deserved and I also love how all the trailers only showed like the first half of the film. Very, very good!

EDIT: Oh yeah, I finally realized what Nolan said that the Batpod was in the first movie as well, we just didn't see it. I thought that was cool. I wonder if .
