Haha, wow.. It is real.

Alright. Capcom has been so amazing lately. First SF4 was announced last year (and shapes up beautifully) and now Megaman 9. The fact that it's classic looking is just icing on the cake. The fact that they came up with that boxart to parody the shitty old ones from the NES days is just clever and hilarious. They're practically making fun of themselves with that.

Screens

I guess MM9 is a throwback to the old days. So much of a throwback that it's recreating exact screens.

This is really, really, awful.

Not that much. That's probably the only or so occurence: from my memory, alot of megaman games redo one or two screens from other games. It's as if it was a gimmick for them.

It's not very omnipresent.

New Mega Man 9 feature revealed: sprite flickering.  You can turn it on to have sprites flicker when there's too much going on the screen, just like the old days! (source)
I don't know how much more hardcore they can make this.

8-bit four colors, using Gameboy sounds only, and removing Splash Woman and replacing it with Red Herring Man or something. Serioursly if they wanted to they could just take all their previous sprites and recycle them, they have the money infact that Mega Man might be exactly the same one from a different game.

And lets not forget THE SLIDE!!!
A tool is a tool regardless. I mean if you suck, you suck, and not even the most perfect tool could save you. And if your damn good then even with the worst tool ever conceived you could chug out some high quality shit.

The poster artwork is really amazing. It reminds me so much of the old boxarts that made me wonder why he looked so old despite being a kid in the game. It's a really neat direction that Capcom is taking with this game... backwards.

Sweet.
Ock ock, Ack ack!
