Every complaint that people have for the Zelda series I understand and agree with, but for some absurd reason I still play the games obsessively like some ravid fanboy.  I really don't know why I enjoy them so much, even though pretty much all throughout Twilight Princess I would grumble to myself that ugh they should have done this instead of that and all that shit.  And even with all those complaints I'm playing through TP again man what is wrong with me.

But yeah the series is definitely stale but fortunately Eiji Aonuma is quoted saying that Zelda is a series that needs new big ideas, and Miyamoto way back in the day said that Twilight Princess would be the last Zelda of its kind so I'm hoping that they actually follow through and give us something new.  Then again Nintendo likes to..... break my heart....

Silent Hill 5 E3 Trailer

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lUx6eDJ5iz0&feature=related

Yeah this is looking good. There's a definite improvement in the voice acting when compared to the previous installments and overall even though it isn't by Team Silent its definetly a Silent Hill game.

Gameplay 1

I think this is supposed to be the streets of Silent Hill but who knows its so fucking dark that you can't see anything besides what the flashlight points at. I can't make out much of what happens so can't really say much about this. I'm not entirely sure if I like the mosnters with bright stuff inside them but who knows maybe its just reflects the flashlight light for the most part????

Gameplay 2

This one I'd imagine is pretty claustrophobic when you actually play it since you are stuck in an elevator and all these weirs long armed fucks come through the walls. The part where the guy cuts the creeps hand shows that the moinsters really get bruised and cut up when you beat them. The cut looks pretty realistic I suppose, as realistic as a cut on a demon can look anyways.

Now I definately can't wait for it. It's looks like the 'Hammer this button!' stuff is in it, but at last now I don't have to hammer the menu screen everytime I need to check ammo. And that elevator monster, hell yeah you know I'm gonna be chugging the health drinks after that (If I have any, which I should. I usually successfully dodge monster's) but in any case, no sign of his 'Military Training'. Unless his training was axeing strange things...

This I agree with. I was just playing it before and thinking 'Why do they put the sumo bit in, why do the put the horse v boar battle in, etc' 'cause it get's tedious after a while. Especially that boar, everytime I've run past it I swung like a madman and STILL it wouldn't hit, it's such a pain in the ass that I switched it off after a while, I couldn't bare rushing at that fat-ass goblin and swerving right and left only to have moved too far and miss, only to be greeted next time by a boar to the face.

dragonslayer nailed a lot of the reason why zelda is good even though it's the same formula, but the big point is that they usually have a very interesting world and characters. not to say it's very innovative or anything like this, but i think zelda does a really good job of creating a decent world with characters you actually want to interact with. a lot of games fall flat by having GENERIC CHARACTER but zelda mostly has important characters that actually serve a purpose. things like the dungeons are basically big puzzles, so stuff like that won't really get old, but the way they present it is the problem.

this all said, it's long overdue that they haven't tried to change the formula. the current games are identical to the NES games in terms of gameplay (with a few exceptions) and they really need to reinvent the game. i am talking too much about zelda and am going to quit now.

also mario galaxy is pretty much the best mario and probably one of the best platformers out there. the game does not resemble previous games at all and i wouldn't look at is as a mario games as much as a really good platformer. in other words do not be fooled by the MARIO name just because he has been in mario tennis / golf / soccer / dickblast.

new idea: add proximity mines in zelda....

also yeah hookshot is probably the best item but it's over used in the series. maybe they could reinvent it by having it as something that involves actual physics. like a grappling hook you need to attach to something then use it to swing to another place or some deal like this. in general they should probably throw out everything they know about the previous zelda games and start from the ground up.

haha maybe that was a joke but just in case it wasn't they have that EXACT ITEM in Wind Waker

Anyway I think the double clawshot in Twilight Princess was actually a great idea and I wouldn't mind if they kept it in future Zelda titles.

edit: but I would want it to START OUT as the Double Claw/Hookshot.  I don't want to get one Hookshot and then five dungeons later get another one instead of a completely new item.

I wouldn't mind a more rustic low magic Zelda inspired by Celtic mythology but every time I imagine the game in my head it ends up like Ico with monsters.

yeah zelda is pretty damn stale...

Nintendo should get Phillips to make the next big Zelda. i'd love to see gwanom come back and help Link fight ganon and his minions.(no joke, they made some pretty cool characters, much better than the ones nintendo's made).

I'd like to see something more like Link's Awakening.  I don't really know how that would play out, I'd just like to see it.  I always loved it more than any other Zelda games.

Man, Alundra was so much better than most Zelda games. That game was actually difficult, Zelda is a fucking pushover.
That game had way more clever ideas and puzzles too.

But I still really like Zelda, and I enjoyed Twilight Princess.
