I'm actually a little depressed. There a lot less songs that I know and love on this than Rock Band 1.
  • Some lackluster choices for some of the good bands. For example, Let There Be Rock is not a dazzling AC/DC choice. They could've done something better, say Dirty Deeds, Thunderstruck, Rock and Roll Ain't Noise Pollution, or something.
  • And to choose PANIC! at the disco, and Linkin' Park, it makes my heart sink. :(

Post thoughts!

I fail to see how panic at the disco is rock. Sure they have some rock... elements... but.

The only song I really like on that whole list is Aqualung. Runner ups for Everlong and Alive, but aside from that, the set list looks very disappointing. Ugh and out of all the awesome Rush songs they could have had they pick "The Trees". Still no Lynard Skynard or Alexisonfire... Who picks these things? Honestly....

It's got a lot of shit but there are some nice artists there too, and it's definitely better than what Guitar Hero games have.

i do wish instead of having mass appeal though, they'd just release different packs.  like if you are blitzen you could buy the bad music pack and if you are maybe some 22 year old dude with ultratight jeans there would be a pack with sonic youth and yo la tengo that fits your needs too!  the way it is now, no one's entirely satisfied

that is actually a really good idea. you could buy the pack for jerks who are mean
really I do think it is a good idea though, it would totally solve the problem of people having incompatible tastes and them trying to reconcile it all in one release. you see this a bit (although its more of a marketing gimmick for the bands) with the Aerosmith and Metallica guitar heroes, but idk I bet the liscencing would probably cost too much if they wanted to really branch out.

Alanis Morissette?  Cool!

I'm a little sad to see no Weezer in this one.  I'd love to have The Sweater Song or Hash Pipe.  Doesn't really matter, as long as it's from one of the first three albums.  A Pinkerton song would rule.

Other than Alanis, nothing looks all that exciting to me.

Hey cool White Wedding!

Anyone know if its Steve Perry's Anyway you want it, or Arnel Pineda's? I could go for either (yea, I take back my statement that only Steve Perry can sing for Journey) but def. wondering. (Arnel's: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EZM_12PCEkw, starts at 1:20. Hard to believe they found this guy off of youtube. lololo)

This is kind of old news, but I see it hasn't been discussed here at GW yet, so I'll post it:
Konami is suing Harmonix/Viacom over Rock Band!

From: http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=20601101&sid=aHQODoKwFYrA&refer=japan
Quote
July 10 (Bloomberg) -- Konami Corp., the Japanese creator of the ``Dance Dance Revolution'' music video game, sued Viacom Inc.'s Harmonix studio, claiming its ``Rock Band'' game violates patents.

The Konami patents, issued in 2002 and 2003, relate to simulated musical instruments, a music-game system and a ``musical-rhythm matching game.'' Konami also makes the ``Karaoke Revolution'' music game with microphones, as well as the ``Metal Gear Solid'' espionage game.

``Rock Band,'' the game in which players emulate rock and rollers with toy instruments, drove a 16 percent increase in first-quarter revenue at New York-based Viacom's media networks business. Konami's Digital Entertainment unit said in May it plans to begin selling its own rock band game, called ``Rock Revolution,'' later this year.

Konami is demanding cash compensation, plus an order that would block Viacom and Harmonix from using the inventions, according to the complaint, filed yesterday in federal court in Marshall, Texas. The suit names Harmonix Music Systems, Viacom, and Viacom's MTV Networks Co., which owns Harmonix.

Viacom spokeswoman Kelly McAndrew said the company hasn't received the complaint, so had no immediate comment.

Konami American depositary receipts, each representing one ordinary share, fell $1.67, or 5.2 percent, to $30.15 at 4:02 p.m. in New York Stock Exchange composite trading. They have risen 26 percent in the past year. Viacom's Class B shares rose 22 cents to $28.12 and have dropped 32 percent in the past year.

The case is Konami Digital Entertainment Co. v. Harmonix Music Systems Inc., 08cv286, U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas (Marshall).
Konami sucks. First ITG and now this.

What would the Vocals do?  You're more likely to get Digital Love or One More Time than Aerodynamic.
