New Order - Elegia

I actually only know of this song because of this short film. Everything else I've heard from this band is rubbish, but this is an outstanding song. I guess this video functions more like a music video anyway, but the film is worth watching due to its own merits. It's unquestionably the best gimmicky/special effects film I've ever seen.

i really liked that

New Order is one of those bands that got progressively worse throughout their career, but their first album is pretty exceptional

The Mops album I have is called Psychedelic Sounds In Japan although I dunno if it's a compilation or not! It's good but nothing groundbreaking and is mainly interesting because woah a japanese garage band. Also because they cover some Jefferson Airplane songs in really heavy accents.

Some good garage albums/bands are 'Black Monk Time' by the Monks, 'Boom' by the Sonics, 'Turn On (The Music Machine)' by the Music Machine, the first 13th Floor Elevators album I guess?? Really a lot of the best stuff was singles by shortlived/obscure bands so you kind of have to just DEVOUR COMPILATIONS. Some good ones are Nuggets no shit, the Lux & Ivy's Favourites series, maybe the Born Bad series (although iirc thic is mostly rockabilly??), also an excellent series of compilations called Sixties Archives which focus on subgenres (heavy psyche, garagepunk etc) and regional scenes (new mexico! louisiana!!)

bonzi buddy I'm putting up a garage mixtape in the happy zoo! mainly because i like making mixtapes but maybe you'd enjoy it too??
