code 46 eh? it was ok, but didn't really do it for me. there were nice shots and all (from memory) but it couldn't always keep my attention.
damn it, i wanted to see that movie. my parents saw it and kind of liked it, but were all "what's with this guy?? HUH????" but it sounds dope.
yeah it was kind of on the dull side, like all of his movies are, but i feel like that is a certain aesthetic he's going for.  he seems like kind of a REALISTIC sort of director (multiple other movies of his look almost like documentaries), so he probably leans towards making things seem incredibly true to life regardless of how engaging they are.  anyway what i dug about the movie was that like you said i thought there were a lot of really good shots and i enjoyed the cinematography in general.  like remember the scene early on in the club, with the strobe light, that just went on for two minutes?  also i thought the premise/plot in general was sort of cool and pretty good for a sci-fi movie, but mostly i really liked the interaction between robins and... whoever the female lead was.  i guess i could see why you'd be bored by it but there was a lot about it i was into at the time.

what was kinda gay in hindsight was the SPEAKING MULTIPLE LANGUAGES thing.  it is probably pretty realistic that that would happen ultimately but like... if you can't implement it into the film in any realistic way, i kind of think you should just leave it out.

I've (mostly) enjoyed his other movies more, at least. They do have that realistic feel to them--hell, 24 Hour Party People and Tristram Shandy ARE pretty much a mix of documentary and mockumentary (and not quite either if you ask me). And I agree, the premise was good and it may not have worked any other way (certainly not as an action sci-fi film). So yeah that and some of the shots were kind of nice but otherwise it's average or just above average. Not terrible, but not great (and bound to have its fans and haters).

Oh yeah and question with possible spoilers: was it revealed that Or am I now confusing it with

nah, i think that was eternal sunshine!  but thinking back i am a little confused in retrospect as to why he let her call the authorities or whoever when he knew she had that implant that made her report CODE 46 VIOLATIONS.

yeah I suspected that might be the case. I guess with the whole memory erasure thing I wasn't entirely sure. and really, how could it have happened before!

and that's a good point, regarding the phone call. he obviously realised what was going on/gonna happen, didn't he! what a idoit....

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (a thinker...but amazing), Groundhog Day and Say Anything (two older classics), Garden State and Juno (people say they are "indie" movies, but they really aren't, but they both are still sweet and enjoyable), Big Fish and Edward Scissorhands (if you like your chick flick dashed with amazing visuals and creepiness), and The Princess Bride and Stardust (if you're a fantasy lover).

Garden State and Juno are both independent films, what are you talking about.
