So that lame little browser game that Chef linked and you guys are all into got me thinking, and despite the fact that I would never be able to get into that game, I found the whole topic itself to be pretty cool. Like, you were all hiding out in WAREHOUSES and talking about finding shelter and fuel and food and hospitals and guns and tools and really it just struck me that SURVIVING ZOMBIE ONSLAUGHT is a really appealing prospect to me. So I am thinking, and because at this point I have given up on ever playing ZOMBIE MMO that will not blow terribly, there are two other options: regular games and pen and paper RPGs.
There is Left 4 Dead in a few months, and that looks cool for sure, but it looks too action-driven as well, and not focused enough on cool shit like HIDING OUT//FINDING TOOLS which is really the part I've got a boner for. The only other zombie games I can think of are like... beat em ups, arcade shooter games like House of the Dead or whatever, and obviously Resident Evil which is alright but kind of OLD HAT. If anyone has any suggestions for video games, that would be fly.
But then I was thinking about the P&P RPGs and those seem kind of open-ended and cool along the same vein as that browser-based game but uh... idk somehow tolerable. Here's what I've found so far:
http://www.pen-paper.net/gamedb.php?op=showothergame&othergameid=2http://www.pen-paper.net/rpgdb.php?op=showbook&bookid=5105http://www.pen-paper.net/rpgdb.php?op=showbook&bookid=4058I'm actually not sure if the third one is a game or FICTION, but yeah, the first one seems pretty casual and very cool sounding, and it and the third one also have that campy OHNO CITY//URBAN AREA FULL OF ZOMBIES feel which is exactly what I want, but then the second one seems pretty in-depth and it goes on for like 50 years ingame, and that also struck me as being neat. My brother's into this shit too, and we'd been talking about like... D&D shit lately, but both of us have sort of a distaste for high fantasy so this is opportune, and maybe we'd get some dudes together and do it. Soooo yeah, these are basically all I can find. Has anyone played them? And if so, what do you think? But I mean, if you know of any other tabletop RPGs like this, tell me about them, because I'm really in the market for as many options as possible and I don't know enough about this to know where to find out about every single one that's been made. There are ton of other HIGH FANTASY ZOMBIE ones but I'm only looking for ones in contemporary settings, like your average zombie movie or whatever.
