I love to watch asian movies, especially horrors. I watched a Tale of Two Sisters the other day and didnt understand a thing, the movie Azumi I finished watching today and although it looked old was pretty decent.

What are your top Asian movies you would recommend someone to have to watch? I think if we are talking about Asian movies then Battle Royale is a must, some others I would recommend would be Suicide Club, The Eye and Oldboy.

Also has anyone seen any Asian remakes from America which are actually worth watching? I actually liked the remake of The Ring, sequal wasnt all that though. Recently released was One Missed Call which I watched and didnt think was all bad but I have yet to see the Original version so cant comment but I heard the director didnt even watch the original before filming the remake which makes me laugh.

The Guinea Pig series of movies is a must see for any fan of Asian movies. Japanese cinema at its best.

I wouldn't say that, but seeing as how my list is Korean only, I should agree

It felt old to me, and yeah some of the special effects they tried using were pretty poor but it was worth the 2 or so dollars I spent for it.

I heard Lady Vengeance wasnt such a great movie.

Heard some good things about Ichi the Killer I think its called, a friend is letting me borrow it soon so im looking forward to that.

I don't see how it feels old besides the fact that all Japanese movies have shitty film grain

Hard to explain what I mean by old... just doesnt look as sharp as movies you see released now and like you said kinda grainy if that makes sense.

Oldboy (Korean) is the only one I can remember having any merit to it.

If an image says a thousand words, and a video shows 24 images each second, then why couldn't they condense everything I needed to learn at school into one hour long video :V

uhmm don't think so, Sympathy for lady vengeance is seen as the savior of the Revenge Trilogy since Sympathy for Mr vengeance wasn't up to Chan Wook-parks standards.

Oldboy was by far the best though

Apart from what has mentioned, I've really enjoyed (that I've seen semi-recently) Audition and Nobody Knows.

Asian cinema is really hit and miss for me, I don't really love generic fighting movies where the bullets never hit anyone that much. That said, I dug Exiled (from Johnny To, one of his more recent films) quite a bit because it had a good story and well done action, even though people would fire 200 times and hit nothing but air.

I tend not to like asian movies too much because of the hairy vaginas.

Japanese:

Battle Royale
Suicide Club
The Taste of Tea
One Missed Call (the remake looked too shit to watch sorry)

Korean:

A Tale of Two Sisters
The Whispering Corridors Trilogy (although apparently there's a fourth movie so who knows about it)
Conduct Zero

Also both of the versions of Legend of the Drunken Master were good.

I haven't seen too many Asian movies that other people haven't, but yeah, Conduct Zero and The Taste of Tea are the two lesser known ones that I'd recommend, ESPECIALLY The Taste of Tea.
