I've heard rumors online but can't seem to find anything definitive, what has everyone heard?

Also to make it a better topic, why do the HATERS hate Invisible War so much?

theres already backlash on Deus Ex 3 lol, because of stuff they revealed in a mag.

its coming out some time 2009 thats all we know!

edit:
like i dont even know early/middle/late, but it sounds pretty bad, they've basically made it into GEARS OF WAR (this is what caused the initial backlash)

http://www.computerandvideogames.com/article.php?id=198546

there's an article about it, it's from today i think.

http://games.tiscali.cz/news/news.asp?id=29632&r=top

there's a page of screenshots.

i'm not impressed by any of this stuff. the graphical style looks kind of shit and the atmosphere is easily the best thing about deus ex so if it doesn't have that then i don't really care. i mean, i'll probably still get it though cos i'm an idiot. apparently they are blending rennaissance with cyberpunk apparently. so i dunno it's gonna be a more incongruous kind of steampunk i guess? i liked the dank alleyway gutter data magic bullshit of the first one though. i mean i'm open to this new style i just don't think it looks very interesting from those screenshots and the interview told me nothing interesting either. lots of action. cover systems. regenerating health. who cares.

like i said though i'll get it and who knows. this screen tells me only bad things though:

We were raging about this article on 4chan over the weekend.  Some things I pointed out:

This said, they are doing their utmost to please newcomers as well as existing fans.

okay...

Perhaps controversially this time around combat won't be influenced by stats

well that's a kick in the balls for existing fans but i can understand dropping a stat system because combat in deus ex was very clunky (SHOOT PEOPLE IN THE HEAD WATCH THEM FLINCH AND GRUNT)

and damage will be dealt with by a very Call of Duty-style auto-heal.

FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF[/size]

WTF is this shit?  Deus Ex games are supposed to be adventure shooters and even Invisible War got the ADVENTURE part right but this?  This sounds horrible.  There's no consequence to running around and killing everybody because you have recharging health.  In Deus Ex you have to weigh the situation and approach it based on your resources; if you were fully stocked and loaded then by all means blow through the level killing everyone but if you're down to a pistol and there's a fucking patrol bot up ahead then you better find some emp grenades, hack a console to disable the bot, or avoid it.

I seriously can't imagine the game having the same feeling of impact purely based on the fact that your health recharges.  I CURSE Halo for popularizing recharging health because it is the absolute bane of video games.  It makes sense in a sci-fi setting where you really do have a recharging energy shield but nothing like that exists in the Deus Ex universe.  I don't even know why call of duty still uses it because last time I checked humans don't stitch themselves after being turned into swiss cheese by a .50 cal

if i had creative license over deus ex the game would take place in a world based on tracer tong's second dark age.  one of the endings in the original was .  the idea that power would rest in the hands of the knowledgeable and skilled instead of the rich and famous.  it would almost be like... communism.

FUCK i just realized why deus ex 2 followed the JC merge ending.  if tracer tong really got his way the world would be a marxist dream... until some faggots came along and horded all the power because it's impossible to have a pure communist society.

I think people hated Deus Ex 2 because it wasn't as great as the first, which was hard to live up to anyhow.

Well, I'm a sucker for DE...so those screens don't look too bad to me. I probably won't have a PC that can play this anytime soon, so it is a moot point for me, but still - I'm glad to hear they're doing SOMETHING in the DE universe again.

Also, I enjoyed DE2. I replayed it a bunch, just no where near as many times as I trekked through the first one. At one point I had something like two gig worth of save files from my multiple playthroughs.

it wasn't necessarily a bad game (i found it had much better pacing, they built a graphics engine that wasn't ancient as soon as the game came out, a much more personal story that focused on a select group of characters rather than a huge rogues gallery, a better selection of weapons, and biomods are 30x better) but it was one of the first games of the next generation that pioneered "consolification."  from start to finish the game was designed with consoles in mind as evidence by the REALLY small stages and technical limitations.  the game also had a lot of really dumb features like the unrealistic inventory and universal ammo (seriously, who thought of this?).

If Deus Ex 2 was the first game it probably would have been fantastic but as a sequel it's overshadowed by it's predecessor and that's a huuuuuge shadow to be covered by.

what's wrong: a society in shambles would instantly reject the old class system and power would revert to the laborers who had the means of production OR the idea of a communist state based on marxism-leninism isn't completely corruptible?

I remember hearing about this really long ago because some people on TV here chatted with the makers and like extracted "yes we're doing deus ex 3" out of them

but i barely played deus ex 1 and deus ex 2 ran pretty mehhhh-ish on my old pc

so i guess i don't particularily care

Well, I don't really know what to make of this.

I agree with Marcus that auto-heal is the bane of gaming. Unless it actually makes sense in the game (Like it makes sense in Halo) then it shouldn't be there. I suppose if there was some augment that allowed you to auto-heal, then it might be ok. But I dunno.

I liked Deus Ex 1 and 2, albeit I prefer the original. I'll probably buy this, just cause I like to collect games that I probably won't play that often. Who knows, it could be a good game. Probably unlikely though.

Yeah, it seems kind've odd for a Deus Ex game.

In a way though, it makes sense as long as augmentations exist in the game. If they're staying true to the first game... What if you lose both of your legs? Maybe they'd let you recover to a certain point - like in Metal Gear Solid. Honestly though, I don't think they will even allow you to lose limbs in Deus Ex 3.

Deus Ex does have auto-heal augmentations but they were the most expensive in power outside of the invisibility mod (I really really liked Deus Ex 2's auto-heal which drained life from corpses it was kind of eerie).  Depending on the time line I can see augments costing nothing in the way of energy but auto-heal is one of those action game things and I can't possibly see Deus Ex maintaining the adventure aspect when all you have to do in battle is run to a secluded corner and wait 5 seconds while your body instantly repairs itself from being shot 500 times.

it would be nice if they made it a faster pace though. i took a really really long time playing through the first one because of that stupid stat system mostly, i've not played the second one yet.

I really like the tactic part of Deus Ex, you had to chose your actions and generally running in face first with guns ablaze was a last resort. Even then it could back fire if you came to close to a gun with a flamethrower. I like the fact that I didn't have to kill if I didn't want to. You could slip by and go hack a few panels.

I would be really saddened if Deus Ex 3 was an action game. I like Deus Ex being more tactical, we don't need another Gears of War. We need another fucking Deus Ex.
