AAAAH JUST JOSHIN'

The good 'ol boys are almost done as in LESS THAN A WEEK DONE (I'm guessing Friday).  I never bothered to finish Mother 3 in its Japanese form because translation guides are clunky and awful but FINALLY I get to complete the trilogy in its entirety and maybe motivate myself to work on my own game who knows.  I'm so fucking stoked that I actually dumped the image from my own cart.  THAT'S HOW HARDCORE FAN I AM

This thread is open to discussion about Mother in general, how Nintendo hates Itoi and this series including fans of the series, and Mother 3 itself once the patch is released.







p.s. nintendo fucking sucks and i hope this thing gets something like 500,000 downloads in the first night and crashes starmen's servers and nintendo realizes they could have made a mint if they weren't assholes and just translated the damn thing themselves.

I figure I will play this just out of curiosity, as I didn't like Earthbound.


It's my understanding that the storyline is the appeal in this game, I just don't understand how that can be when the enemy is a rocket with a rhino head.

The appeal in Earthbound was the many absurdities and parodies of pop culture and rpg constructs, and Mother 3 isn't too much different except with somewhat darker undertones beneath the goofy exterior.

i haven't really looked into this game much, i played the first two earthbound games but i never really bothered with this one since it was japanese only. seeing now, it actually looks really good and this is very good news. it looks like it aged pretty well too, just looking at the screens. this game looks as if they could throw this on the DS and you would think it was made today.

I was worried the translation would be a little dodgy but that first screen is just like something out of Earthbound

I played Earthbound but never got around to completing it, it was the cartoony graphics that got me into it really never got to play Mother 2 either, anyone know why Nintendo wouldn't translate it themselves? Why is it called Mother now not earthbound.

Earthbound is hands-down my favorite videogame ever. I've been looking forward to playing the sequel in English.

That's just it though. This is the kind of game where it's sucess is guranteed, but cannot be repeated. If Nintendo goes around promoting games like this and letting gamers worldwide understand how good theese games can be, then soon, not only gamers will be expecting it, but they won't even accept the junk that they are forced to digest from the "mainstream market" for all theese years. It will shift the paradigm to games that cannot be "invented" by a committe of publishing executives looking back at the "hip trends" of previous gaming generations, and their ability to release "blockbuster titles" will be severely hindered by each occurence of a game that actually deserves that status.

It's the only way I see their actions making any sense at all, if you got a better explanation the I'm all ears.

Glad there is news of EB coming out for VC though. I have a feeling that will be the first game I ever gift to another console. (will this topic be updated when the translated release of M3 is actually finished?)

Nintendo has Pokemon on the brains.  If it doesn't contain Lucario or Pikachu or Pop'n'fresh the game won't be popular or successful.  I can't wait for Super Mario Stadium were Peach is kidnapped by a new legendary pokemon and the only way to save her is by finding a kiosk at your local toys r us and downloading the new hidden exclusive pocket monster that acts as a viral marketing campaign for Pokemon SAME SHIT SLIGHTLY BETTER GRAPHICS on the DSi.

I used to enjoy Pokemon. The last one was shit, and now it's just getting out of hand with offshoot games. Seriously Big N, drop the pokedex and translate Mother 3 instead.

I meant to add this. The last Pokemon I played on DS was the same graphics as Ruby except all pixel-weird when they tried to make the 2d stand up like a popup book. It was gawdawful.
