Is it cool of me to agree with headphonics? Or is that a bad thing.

For me at least, I liked the story, liked the villain, liked pretty much everything except for the fact that it didn't deliver on every level it promised. But when I start up the game and walk into that bathysphere, all of that becomes irrelevant. It's a game of atmosphere. It delivers an experience, and that's what it's really all about.

so because you find her lame and boring, her ideas do not warrant being refuted? uhhh i don't know what to say man but there are a ton of libertarians around and they take a large segment of their ideas directly from objectivism. you're talking like she is some marginal figure who does not even merit being ripped to shreds, but unlike nietzsche, who is basically only referenced in pretentious contexts and has no bearing on anything at all, ayn rand's ideas are still incredibly relevant and prevalent in our culture, especially in economics (steel.... thankyou....). like i think objectivism is probably the origin of the ideas of a lot of the people who walk around being like FREE MARKET YESSS *invents superior type of metal, price gouges*. they're everywhere, man; ayn rand's ideas are everywhere. so no i do not think making a satire poking holes in her ridiculous philosophy is undue.

thus spoke sarah schuster is really good though. you get points for that

nah i never said you needed to like it why are you acting like i did?? i said nothing even remotely like that don't pull that shit with me. if you can come out with a reason why it's lame though besides SHES DUMB IGNORE HER >< even though she's partially inspired an entire fucking generation of economic policy then i would like to hear it though because you seem to have completely ignored my post and/or decided to take things that i very clearly did not say from it. also i've read interviews (many!!!) by levine and for a while i thought UGH AYN RAND HOMAGE but nah he's kind of into her but iirc he's mostly into IDEALIZED VISION OF CAPITALISM and who isn't? that shit would be tight if it worked at all. a long time before bioshock was even out i saw him saying that he thought it was a very flawed and flimsy philosophy so idk her being one of his favorite authors doesn't necessarily mean he doesn't think she's full of shit.

I think it's stupid that you think referencing a philosophy or notable figure in contemporary prose is dumb.

Someone should go back in time and tell Martin Luther King that drawing inspiration from Satyagraha is stupid and he should be more original.

Maybe I'm missing something but your entire argument is "I hate Ayn Rand... thus I hate this video game." I can see this argument going in circles, one of us should stop.

She's really actually a wonderful writer. The problem is she doesn't stop being wonderful for pages and pages and pages and pages and after a while it is like OKAY WE GET IT THE FUR CAPE WAS BLUE.

The point is, everyone in the history of ever has drawn influence from the people before him and to say "Yeah, this guy sucks because he likes *overrated philosopher A*" is completely dumb to me.

I think Hitler was a charismatic fellow and a great orator.
