According to a study of over 300 adults, on average men cry once every month, and women cry at least five times per month

I was wondering about this because it's exam time and I'm MEGA STRESSED (final exams then I graduate, someone ban me from the forums btw), and this girl I knew who was in the same boat said she'd been crying a lot and I found it fairly weird.
I've cried maybe once this year. I remember for a long time the last time I had cried was during a scene in Minority Report, and it was only notable because I realised it had been the last time I cried. I'm pretty sure I've never cried over a girl or anything too - I cried when Ash lost the pokemon league. Actually now that I'm writing this down it seems like I only cry when someone else is crying. Bit of a sheep really.

How often do you cry? If you feel like sharing, what sets you off? Am I missing out on something? I remember a cooking teacher in intermediate said if you never cry you get eye cancer, he said it as we were cutting onions, so now I purposefully waft onion fumes into my eyes when I'm cutting them.

Also this isn't one of my topics, I'm genuinely curious and I honestly cried when Ash lost at the pokemon league.

I haven't cried in a long time. I've felt like crying but never let it out because I don't want to be seen as a pussy by my work colleagues, when the stress just gets too fucking much. Gotta hold it in

Sadly, I never actually BURST OUT CRYING, the only times my eyes get watery is when I get hit really hard or when I am messing with my eyes trying to put on my contacts. It's really not a good thing, though, crying actually helps a lot and even if you don't really feel like it, crying and shouting at the same time helps blow off steam quite a lot actually(not emo)!! Also, yes, I've never felt like crying for a long time, so I guess I'll vote for the five month option.

Probably about once a week, but not BOO HOO HOO sort of crying just, well, tears. I don't break down like an idiot unless something bad happens to someone. Last time that happened was probably when my step-sister got hit by a car.

I get shit like sawdust and chemical fumes in my eye quite a lot so I shed tears fairly regularly, but interms of actually crying for some emotional reason? I dunno couple of years?

Probably once a month or less (or more it just depends what is going on), but it's not really.....crying.  My eyes tear up, but there usually aren't even enough for them to fall out of my eyes (they just sort of sit there).  Also it's more when I get mad at people than actually sad.

Oh wait people made serious posts.  Ok then.  Music makes me cry sometimes, not like BAWL but you know little tear.  And then there have been a few moments of being overwhelmed by what the fuck is hpanneing in life but again, they have been more just kinda enormous feeling of "damn, this is annoying!" and maybe a like tiny bit of ALMOST CRYING feeling.  The last time I really cried was ummm about two years ago I think when me and my girlfriend of about a year broke up?  Maybe a bit before that I forget.

Final exams though man.  Do you think its because of the pressure of the exams or because of the pressure of after this we are gonna have to do life things!!!!!

The last time I cried was the 7th grade. I have emotions, plenty, it's just that nothing has hurt me that bad as of late.

Once a year or maybe less, this being actually crying about something, not just tearing while listing to music or something like that.

I haven't cried since about 7th grade as well. Things have hurt me, but if I had ever gotten the urge to cry I just held it in.

honestly the only things that have really brought me to tears are films and tv shows. and that happens not too rarely, maybe a couple times a year. i think my equivalent of normal crying is staring blankly at the ceiling for several hours.

Depending on what music I listen to, perhaps once a month or so. There are certain compositions like Beethoven's Emperor concerto that when conducted by certain people evoke enough emotion to move me to tears. Also Howard Shore's music for Return of the King. Music is pretty much the only thing that stirs enough emotion in me to make me cry.

Even though I voted Never (it was an accident, I swear :p), the last time I broke down was after graduation last May. (not during, but the night after, when it all set in that I'd probably never see my frineds again)

I cry pretty frequently. unlike everyone here who says ONLY AT REAL EVENTS, the things that get me are little things. anytime a show or movie has a scenes where a father says "I'm always proud of you" or whatever, it kind of kills me inside. then there are a lot of days when it hits me how unfair some shit is, that someone like elliott smith can spend his whole life doing nothing but writing songs and it's not enough or how troy davis is probably going to die and I'm pretty much going to make a career of watching people like him die, and I can't take it without getting angry and upset.

then during cancer it went up in frequency. where before the end of American Beauty just made me tear up a little, I had constant tears down my face during both the the bag scene and of course the ending. I don't think that needs explanation though; when you face death, everything gets a little...idk.

stress doesn't make me cry, but sometimes there's genuinely too much bad shit going on to make it without refueling at nature's gas station.
