I don't know whether to really post this here but I decided to, like the AP Scores topic usually is here (and I sometimes post that myself!)

Basically, I'm in my Senior Year and I took the SAT twice this year, once back in May, and once in early October. I got my scores back a week ago (I believe) for October and I'm pretty fucking happy:

Math: 660
Reading: 720
Writing: 660
---Essay was 8 out of 12

Math & Reading: 1380
Total: 2040

I'm pretty stoked right now! This is actually a record for my high school, or at least that's what a few teachers think/trying to figure out. I'll be surprised if it is because we've had genius kids at my school, but who knows.

But moreover, the purpose of this topic is for others to post their SAT scores (if they want), talk about prospective colleges, and whatnot. Since that's rather limited, people in college/fresh out of college/whatever can talk about experiences, their SATs, and whatever's relevant.

So yeah!

I took is last in June, took 9 months weekly of SAT math prep got

Reading: 520
Math: 580
Writing: 550

Took 4 months of English and 2 more months of Math and in October I got:
Reading: 510
Math: 650
Writing: 540

yeah I'm a stupid fuck

I flunked my freshman and sophomore years of high school, but I got my GPA up from freshman 2.21 GPA to 2.74 in my junior year.

So all my unrealistic hopes of studying film at a prestigious school are out the window.

Probably end up doing some computer science bullshit

congratulations fire mage

I took the SAT once, in the spring of my junior year.
MATH: 800
VERBAL: 600
READING: 570

TOTAL: 1970
MATH + VERBAL: 1400 out of 1600

Note: Though I know a lot, I'm not really a math genius, but rather, got ass lucky filling in blanks with seconds left on the clock.  I would have taken it again spring of my senior year, but the admissions counselor told me my scores were high enough.  Little did I know that had I scored 610 I would have been given credit in the highest English class and would not have had to take English in college.  I think about that every time I have a 10-page paper due later in the day...

So do you guys have to do maths? If I did SAT's my scores would look horribly skewed (my marks were usually A+ HISTORY ENGLISH F- MATHS SCIENCE). Down here, most places, it's only compulsory to take one maths OR science class in your last two years.

i got an 800 on verbal and like a 710 on the essay i think?? not so hot on math, 660 which is still pretty good.

i'm pretty good at standardized tests, not so hot at other things unfortunately

edit: i hate telling people about my SAT scores because there's not that many ways to say you got an 800 on verbal without it sounding like you're bragging

That’s right, you have the young gaming with the old(er), white people gaming with black people, men and women, Asian countries gaming with the EU, North Americans gaming with South Americans. Much like world sporting events like the Wolrd Cup, or the Olympics will bring together different nations in friendly competition, (note the recent Asian Cup; Iraq vs. Saudi Arabia, no violence there) we come together. The differences being, we are not divided by our nationalities and we do it 24-7, and on a personal level.

We are a community without borders and without colours, the spirit and diversity of the gaming community is one that should be looked up to, a spirit and diversity other groups should strive toward.

They recently added the writing section to the SAT.  It used to be a Math/Verbal composite score out of 1600.  Now it's out of 2400 even though most universities don't look at your writing section yet.  I'd say you're pretty well off if you score 1900 or better.  Each section is out of 800, so the closer you get to 800 the better.  SAT's aren't everything, though.  I know someone who had a perfect 2400 on the SAT from my school and he was denied entry into Harvard because he was not involved in very many extracurricular activities.  According to collegboard.com the average SAT scores are:
   * Critical reading: 502
    * Mathematics: 515
    * Writing: 494

As you can see this adds up to only 1511 out of 2400.  That's not very good but it will certainly grant you admission to most public universities, just won't put you in for scholarships.

Congrats, Fire Mage!

I didn't take the SAT. I took the ACT. Got like a 26 or something. Didn't feel like retaking it.

im not sure if it was my brother or steel in one of his articles who said this but apparently RIGOROUS SAT STUDY COURSES are the way rich white people all get the sat scores necessary to get into good colleges.  they are v v effective and more than actually teaching you everything you need to learn or whatever in order to answer EVERY SINGLE QUESTION RIGHT, they just teach you how to take the test well.  like, there's a method apparently.  idk i dropped out before i took them so i'm not entirely sure!  but yes the classes are incredibly expensive but help a lot apparently.

OR

Just pay attention for once in school.  It's really not that hard...

me and my three chums sat at the same place in the hall for our years in school. By the end, our SAT score must have been pretty high because when we spilled some pop, it trickled into a groove in the floor we had made over time.

I got an 1890 when I took it two years ago which is a pretty good score, especially considering that I did absolutely nothing to prepare for it and I only took it once.  Had I actually prepared for it I probably would have done a banging job but I got into college either way so I'm ok with it.

PROTIP: I can't remember if you decide where to take the SAT or if you're like ASSIGNED to a specific place, but if you can, try taking it at a shitty school.  Chances are you'll get set up with a proctor who doesn't really give a shit and who falls asleep at one point giving you plenty of extra time to finish a section and then go back and finish the essay that you ran out of time on.  Steel's article said that IF YOU CHEAT ON THE SAT YOU WILL GET CAUGHT but that sure wasn't the case when I took it.

edit: note that I didn't cheat on the SAT outside of going back to the essay when I wasn't supposed to, but I could have very easily gotten away with it.

Oh yea, going back to other sections is a very good idea.  They tell you not to, but seriously, I'll flip back and work on other sections if it means I might get more money for college.  Sometimes the time limit they give you is pretty ridiculous, but if you take it in a large auditorium like I did, nobody knows if you're flipping your page forward or backward, nor do they know exactly what section you're on.
