There's this new theatre in town that has Cinedine (it's pretty much a restaurant-theatre if you've never been) and I lost the vote to see Invictus against Avatar, but luckily Avatar was sold out!
So I ended up seeing Invictus, which was really good! I don't really know much about africa and apartheid but this movie isn't aimed at anybody with knowledge of those things, politics, or rugby. There were honestly a couple moments that almost made me tear up in that they were moving scenes. Matt Damon's character was a little unrelatable, and I found myself uninterested in Mandela's time in prison, but seeing the characters that hated mandela gradually come around as the rugby team succeeded was very enjoyable; I was pretty happy by the end of the movie.
My only gripe is that Mandela's secret service deters from the plot and other than in their reactions to the rugby matches, the characters are really only used to trick the audience into thinking there is going to be an assassination attempt several times through out the movie. They were interesting characters and it was disappointing that more didn't come of them by the end.
Also the Cinedine thing kinda sucked, the waiter kept bothering me while I was trying to watch the movie and the food wasn't good enough to justify not going to dinner before the theatre.
