Did he just invent an accent for that or what.

I watched Frailty, which I enjoyed until about the last 20 minutes with the really stupid twist. You could tell they were trying to be at least somewhat open ended, but kind of gave too much support to one side so you get kind of a half assed conclusion that conflicts a lot with the first 70% of it.

That Nick Cage video is important, I especially think the "boo-hoo" part at around 8:00 is great. Nobody but Nicolas Cage could pull that off

holy shit. i can't even tell if this is the worst acting performance i've ever seen or the best. this barely even resembles human behavior. wow.

Silent Hill and Southland Tales.

Silent Hill was incredibly mediocre, but that's par for the course as far as video game movies are concerned.  I never played any of the games, but the atmosphere was pretty cool, it just wasn't scary in the slightest.

Southland Tales was...I don't even know.  It was incredibly confusing, and not in the good way.  Mildly entertaining, but Kelly is never ever going to top Donnie Darko.

K-PAX.
I love this film, although I still have arguments with people over the ending.

Watched Quantum of Solace earlier yesterday.  It was better than I expected it to be, as I heard from some people that it wasn't very good in comparison to Casino Royale (not that CR was particularly a great movie in its own respect) but I thought that overall it wasn't too terrible.  I find that I enjoy the tone of the new Bond movies a lot more than some of the older ones, just because it shows a more human side of him, even if the movies in the end are just as contrite and contrived as the previous ones, just with better cameras.

i havent seen this movie yet but I thought the point was that he was able to find and deliver information in a way that made it seem like he had some ability.
i think this is on netflix so i will go try to find it but i'd like to talk about this afterward!

Cop Out and The Rundown.  Seann William Scott night, apparently.

Both were ok, both had a couple funny parts.  But as much as I love Bruce Willis and Kevin Smith, I expected more out of Cop Out.

The more I think about K-Pax, the weirder it becomes.  The two concepts of a more advanced extraterrestrial (PAX=PEACE, GET IT??) and a repressed mentally ill man who has built this absurd wall to separate himself from his past seem to be equally likely in this movie.  The fact that he has such an accurate outlook on a distant star system is unlikely because he's never seen cracking a book, as is the fact that he has such success in affecting the minds of the mentally ill.

I like the idea of a mentally ill "Prot," though, this guy who went out and researched this new insane existence and goes as far as eating a banana with the peel on it to look like an extraterrestrial.

thats exactly why i thought this movie was crap. i had such a hard time deciding through most of the movie whether the performance was poorly written or kevin spacey was doing a bad job or he did it perfectly and the character was just so film un-friendly, but i wasn't impressed at all by the character.
like i felt like the way he demonstrated how much he knew about space wasn't impressive or shocking and when jeff bridges finally revealed his past it was pretty much exactly what you thought it would be. they shrug off his weird knowledge of the stars as "oh he was always pretty sharp even as a country hick"

concerning whether or not he was an alien it seems almost obvious that he was not- it really felt like they added that missing person onto the end of the movie to satisfy the people who wouldn't be happy with a non-mystical solution, and despite that it seems to me that someone who killed his family and tried to kill himself and then studied space to some ridiculous degree is definitely capable of killing/kidnapping someone and hiding them
also wtf! they finally find out this guy killed his family and tried to kill himself and they just throw him back in with the rest of the mentally ill? wtf! and when he convinces one of the other patients to stangle someone theyre just like "hey don't do that!"

Dinner for Schmucks was awesome.  I'm glad Galifinakis finally got to shine on the big screen.  Sure, he had The Hangover, but that wasn't really an appropriate role for him.  Zack needs to be out there portraying an asshole, not a well-meaning fool.
