I watched Inception yesterday. Really cool movie, probably the best one I've seen this year. The only problem I had with it is that it felt that there wasn't enough time to explore all the ideas that they introduced. I kept expecting some big plot twists and cooler stuff to happen given the film's subject and presentation, but was underwhelmed with it by the end. They introduce all those cool characters and toy with the concept of what's real and what's not but at the end of the day they follow a straight-forward story (compared to what it could've been anyway) and most characters are pretty two dimensional.

When they said they'd be spending 10 years in the deepest level I thought they'd actually do that and start losing grip of reality some years later, but it ended up being just a few action-packed hours. When they talk about the limbo and all the crazy consequences of messing with dreams you think it's leading to something big, but nothing really bad happens and the Japanese guy just agrees to come back to reality without any real tension or reason for him dying (I guess it's some sort of punishment for him?). You have a thriller questioning what is real and what is not but the closest it gets to being that is a cheap ending shot. I'm not sure how else to explain it, but I kept expecting more and just getting something predictable (I felt the same with the Prestige).

But aside from that, it is a really engaging and fun movie. Definitely my favorite Nolan film so far.

dinner for schmucks looks fucking terrible. paul rudd, steve carrell and zach galifinakis are all totally capable of being funny. i've even seen them do it. and they are making a piece of dung like this, at this point? go to heck.

I saw Inception yesterday too, I liked it. It's definitely really entertaining, but most of the characters are pretty flat and I didn't really like how they over-explained things in the beginning. Nolan has never been great but he knows how to make a movie entertaining/engaging/fun (Prestige and Memento were good) without being completely stupid

yeah, I feel this way about the movie too.  I haven't seen it though, so I will be reserving full judgement of it until I do though.

Saw daybreakers yesterday.  It was a little better than I expected ( I did not expect much), but at least it was a vampire movie that wasn't terrible towards vampires like Twilight

Yeah most of the reviews for it are awful.  I loved it, so I must have a horrible sense of humor I guess.

What reviews are you referring to?  As in like other regular reviews or more like the critics and that sort of thing? And honestly those always have to be taken with a grain of salt anyways.

Usually I just look at Rotten Tomatoes.  It's got a 50%, which is pretty bad in comparison to how much I liked it, I guess.

I watched Antichrist last night and was kind of disappointed when the only interpretation I could get from it was that women are evil.

I hated Dinner for Schmucks not because it was poorly done or anything but the plot was just so hard to take I actually had to get out for a minute.
It's like one of those Ben Stiller/Luke Wilson movies where they just get repeatedly screwed over and every character is eccentric and extreme except for the relatable main character. I just can't watch shit like that.
Tom Goes to the Mayor comes to mind but I guess the big difference is that the characters then were weird in an intriguing way and the show was about tom dealing with this people treating him like he was oddball, as opposed to Dinner for Schmucks making me scream inside begging paul rudd to just go insane and rip out steve carrells intestines because the conflict built to this absurd point where you have no choice but resent him
the movie also had some kind of formula i noticed where steve carrell would do someting horrible and push paul rudd until he lashed out, and then steve carrell would be sad and they would reveal something sad about his life that didn't really explain why he was so weird but rather that being that way was hard or something. this happens like 3 times over before paul rudd learns some kind of lesson, no idea what it is because the movie ends with steve carell costing him and his girlfriend both their jobs

I watched the weirdest movie last night. Dogtooth.
Watch the trailer, then maybe watch the movie. It is best to be in an altered state of mind when watching it

Also I watched The men who stare at goats. Wasn't as great as I expected but nonetheless a time kill.

i actually liked that trailer. it's uh barkley (yyyyyyup i'm really lazy) but this movie's setting is spanish drama. the flamenco at the background works really well!
what kind of music is that, is it some kind of flamenco or a sub-genre/mix of classical music and flamenco? kinda like Piedmont blues? DWARF FORTRESS MUSIC.

also from my experience you... you don't really need 'altered state of mind' to understand most of the stuff.
i think uh altered state propably does make you think things differently (e.g. dxm affecting your basic psychological functions in your brain/mind!) thus making you feel like a different person. maybe. i always wondered if people remember the experience that clearly after the night. so i conjured that if you can remember the ROUTE of your train of thought it could be very... life changing or interesting!! useful!! d-don't look at me like that!! HAVE AT THEE BARF!!! VOMIT!!! PUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUKE

The Other Guys.  It was okay, not McKay's best.  I really like Ferrell and Wahlberg and they worked pretty well together.  But like at least half of the jokes fell pretty flat.  The half that landed was great, but it was a really jarring combination of hilarious and not-even-slightly-funny.

Watched Firefly and Serenity for the first time.  I dunno why I waited so long, being such a Whedon fan, but both were pretty amazing.  in Serenity sucked hardcore, though.

Well Firefly's the tv show and Serenity's the movie.  I just kinda lumped them together.
