The Darknight. I absolutely love the Joker. Best actor I've seen. His smile, his angry shout...

i wish that 50% of mainstream movies for the past ten years weren't superhero movies, because the avengers was a good flick, but i'm burnt out on the genre.  also don't see it in 3D, def not worth the extra money

Last movie I watched  was Godfather 2, not as interesting as Godfather 1, but still, not a terrible movie, if you feed off the vibe that the first one gave. Although, De Niro is probably the best actor in this series. Probably his best performance.

I watched Cell 211 last night. It was pretty good! The opening scene made me cringe more than any of the SAW films... I'm usually not averse to gore but for some reason I just can't handle seeing someone slit their wrists.. gah.  The movie is about a new prison guard employee who comes in to work a day early to get himself orientated. As luck would have it, a prison riot breaks out and he ends up on the wrong side of the bars, on the cell block with the rest of the prisoners. Thinking quickly he makes himself appear to be a newly convicted prisoner so as to gain the rioters' trust.

It's an interesting thriller and it goes in a direction I didn't really expect. Apparently there's an American remake planned for 2013. I guess the general public is averse to reading Spanish subtitles.

Similar to how the US remade Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.

Although that one spanish movie, with the creepy guy with eyes on his hands and the talking goat was in Spanish, I remember it being pretty popular. I forget the title.

Labrynth.

Also, I've heard from various people that Girl with the Dragon Tattoo is one of the rare examples of an American remake actually told the story better than the original movie. Namely because its more true to the book.

EDIT: I haven't read the book or watched the old movie, but I really liked the American movie.

the books are pretty much shit, and the movie is passable entertainment, so i would say it's even better than the book

I watched The Avengers. It was pretty good. Not spectacular, but it definitely could have been a lot worse.

did a double feature of southland tales and a scanner darkly.  i really like both, and combined they made a pretty cool mental atmosphere of drug induced paranoia

it's a pretty good psychological thriller in the first two thirds.  it changes in the last act, but i can't say too much w/out spoiling it.

I watched Dante 01 last night. It's about a space station above the hell-like planet Dante 01 that is a holding cell/research facility for institutionalized convicts. I really enjoyed the atmosphere and where the movie was headed, but then in the last 5 minutes it's like the entire movie came off the rails and crashed in a bizarre explosion (and not in a good way. This was almost like Darren Aronofsky-weird, although unlike Darren's storytelling process, this didn't really make sense.)

Apparently the movie ran into production issues and the film ending was not what the director initially intended. No one seems to know what the better ending is though which is a bummer.

yeah the first parts were better than the ending, which I was pretty dissapointed with the way that it was approached, although the filming style still held my attention at least more than it would have just based on the plot changes.
