Just saw State of Play yesterday. It was really good! everyone acted well (rachel mcadams a bit less well, but she wasn't too bad) and it had a really good script. had a twist ending but it wasn't TWIST FOR THE SAKE OF TWIST and addressed some pretty good issues (importance of investigative journalism/newspapers)

Superbad.  I assume it needs no explaination, besides the fact that I was laughing my ass off at 2am.

crank 2.

fucking absurd movie, they rewrite whatever universal rules were established in the first one and they do just about everything they can to be silly. at one point they shoot a stripper in the chest and silicon starts leaking out. also the badguy from the first one's head is still alive, hooked up to tubes n shit in a tank.

i seriously haven't seen a good movie in over a month.

Never seen 2001 A Space Odyssey until last week. Worst. Fucking. Film. Ever! So slow and fucking boring. Most of the film was just shots of spaceships slowly floating through space and people eating space dinners. Kubrick is a fucking joke.

Bastards stealing from Futurama, how could they.. but I have to see what that actually looks like.

I watched Dragonball Z, I thought it was terrible and as strange as it sounds it felt almost like I was watching Power Rangers.. Looked like they stole a couple of bad guys from the original Power Rangers show.

all right guys, I cannot disagree with this post enough, I find it overly simplistic, stupid, overarching, etc, but for fuck's sake:

I rewatched Garden State as I was curious to what I thought of it on a second watch (I didn't much like it the first time I saw it about 2 years ago). I liked the film a little more this time round and reacted a little more to the humour (not to say I found it hysterical), but I still found the film kind of self endulgent and very student film-esque. I don't doubt that its a personal and meaningful film to Zack Braff, but its kind of like watching a story about an emo kid that deals with situations in an immature sociopathic way. It feels hard to sometimes care about his character as you just want to slap him round the face and tell him to shape up. That said, I found some of the scenes quite gentle and charming, which made me smile whilst other scenes (some of the conversations on love) made me cringe.

I watched Le Mepris this afternoon. It's a Jean-Luc Godard film but it isn't too wacky. It did come off as kind of aggressively sexist to me though, more than just incidental 60's sexism. It made me not like it a bit. The soundtrack was really nice. That house they went to toward the end was excellent, though. I found out right after that Bridgette Bardot is a huge racist? Apparently she's been convicted of inciting racial hatred/violence a bunch of times. I like the atmosphere of Godard films but I don't know if I like him. They aren't shallow movies, but they might be ugly and dumb.

It made me want to watch more Fritz Lang films, as well.

There's nothing else I could possibly say about Space Odyssey. I think "Slow spaceships floating through space slowly" pretty much sums it up. Well okay, I could have mentioned the people walking slowly around in sticky shoes to drive the point home that there's no gravity in space. Aye, I get the point, Kubrick! You don't need to drag the scene on for another 40 minutes! That's the main problem with 2001, everything just goes on for too fucking long! Like that bit where the guy's working out, running around his low gravity ring-room. Aye, okay, Kubrick! He's in space! I FUCKING GET IT! Why is this scene still going!? He's already done about 26 laps. I FUCKING GET IT!

Yes, I know there's some big whoop dee doo plot here, but there's only enough for a 40 minute short movie, not this 4 week long slog festival!

As a film, 2001 is shit. The end.

I'd rather watch Commando 'cause it has guns and explosions!

Today's generation of young people have no patience or conception of artistic beauty what so ever.

If I wanna look at art, I'll look at a fucking painting. When I watch a film, I want to be enter-fucking-tained!
