Saw Marley and Me last night. I liked the funny bits and Owen Wilson is a good comedic actor for the most part. The sad bits were really sad and they really milked it, and the girl I went to the movie with cried like a Scot.

no, that's how the short story is.  in the movie he's born with the appearance/physical ailments of an old man (arthritis etc.) but with the mind of a child.

edit: even if he was born with all the knowledge in the world calling that stupid is like saying the story of rip van winkle is stupid because it's unrealistic, HOW CAN HE SLEEP FOR 100 YEARS???

videodrome.

it was good and gross as hell. i'm grossed out just thinking about it right now. i like trashy movies like this that have a message they want to send out, then select a ridiculous fantasy/sci-fi horror concept to illustrate it. they always come off like everything is sarcastic and exist in this detatched kind of reality.

well i didn't know how FANTASY this movie was, it sounded more like it was realistic with the exception of the aging thing, so they would at least need to be reasonable

i mean that ASSUMING he can age backwards, that doesn't automatically make the other part okay, you kind of have to address it somehow if you want this to be taken seriously

but yeah i haven't read the short story either i've just read a general summary of the plot of this movie

Saw The Wrestler tonight. Mickey Rourke was fantastic in it and I thought the content was moving, but also felt fairly cynical and negative, which left me feeling empty. I wouldn't watch it again and it's definitely the worst film Darren Aronofsky has made to date, not because it's poorly made, but because it lacked much of an inspiring vision that his other movies have. It's a shame because I heard after the failure of The Fountain, the studio won't allow him to write his own material.

I like what I like, I consider being easily entertained a good thing... It means I can grab a random movie and spend an hour and 30mins with a smile on my face.

EDIT***
City Of Ember - Nice childrens movie, kept me entertained  :)

House on Haunted Hill, the original not the 1999 remake.

Quote from: www.Archive.org
An eccentric millionaire throws a party for his wife in a haunted house offering each guest $10,000 if they can make it through the night. Only there seem to be schemes at work beyond what the ghosts have planned.

I found it to be pretty enjoyable.  If you like old 50's horror flicks give it a try.  It's in the public domain so it should be easy to find a copy online.
Gaming World Mini City: Population, Industry, Transportation, Security Current rank 3950.

Kingpin, which is one of those movies I should have seen when I was younger, but didn't get around to until now. I liked it.

Bash away, folks!

Just watched Disney's the Sword in the Stone. It was terrible. It just rambled about using brain over brawn; and then the kid forgets his recently knighted master's sword in an inn, and pulls the sword from the stone. That's it. What the hell kind of character arch is that?
"Use your head to solve problems!" -2 wizards fight- -kid gets to be a squire- "go get my sword" -pulls sword from stone, against his friend's advice- "that's not my sword" -they put sword back and can't pull it- "let the kid do it" -kid pulls sword- -the end-
No conflict, except in case by case scenerios. Just a snippit of the kid's history, then roll credits. God this was bad. Also, there was a scene where the talking owl laughed for like a minute of screen time. I was ashamed to be watching it, the scene was so bad.

Casablanca, Sunset Blvd. and The Usual Suspects. All were really good and yes I'm just picking movies from the IMDb top list that I haven't seen.

I got another night of childlessness so I hauled my ass (through six inches of snow) up to the city to see the other movie I've been gunning to see.

Alien Neo Ted and the Enormous Magical Space Marbles (AKA The Day the Earth Stood Still) casts Keanu Reeves as Klaatu, an alien in a human body, here to save the Earth from. . . yeah, and there's Jennifer Connelly, Will Smith Junior and some other folks who all bumble through this slow-ass film in an vain attempt to save it from Keanu, who could have been replaced with a brick of cream cheese and no one would have noticed. In all fairness, I understand why Reeves got the part; not many people can pull off the stiff acting like he can and look reasonably good on screen doing it. Unfortunately, this film cost too much to be considered campy and it all I kept thinking about during the film was how painfully cheesey the camera work was (we ALL love the slow pan off the back of an actor's head looking up at a giant space marble, especially when it's done 569465 times in the course of one film) and the soundtrack was practically lifted from a dozen other, far better sci-fi films of the last twenty years. That's not to say that it didn't have its good points; Will Smith Junior is proving himself to be a decent actor and mechanized locusts are always fun to see. Basically, the theme of the movie is HUMANS ARE RUINING THE PLANET which I already know. If you're big into Keanu Reeves or alien robot bugs, you may enjoy this. Personally, I'm pissed that I spent $10.00 plus two hours of driving time to see a movie that I could have rented in six months and disliked from the comfort of my couch.

Also, aliens like having business meetings at McDonald's. Just food for thought.
Check it out! I'm doing NaNoWriMo this year!

its not that you like what you like (although if you are entertained by end of days you either are kind of dumb or FLASHING LIGHTS/SOUNDS actually entertains you on some atavistic level), but you post almost every other day with some movie you've seen and it's always close to garbage. there's never a post where you're like "saw Man on Wire" it's always "watched Land Before Time IV, was entertained".

fun fact Man on Wire is the only movie with a perfect rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
