why would you bother giving a rating out of 100 if you're rounding it to 60 anyway?  6/10 is just fine
consistency in rating system? and because it implies a greater degree of accuracy where 6/10 could really be anywhere from 5.5 to 6.499 recurring

there will be blood was slow but still managed to keep me actively interested in the characters, which no country didn't

So is Kill Bill, but Kill Bill seems quite far from Pulp Fiction and Reservoir Dogs to me.
Pulp Fiction almost seems like a sequel in a few ways.

Killbill seems pretty much tarantino film for me

I just saw The Last Emperor. Jesus Christ, this is one of the best films I've ever seen, ever. I don't know if it's a cultural thing or whatever, but it completely engrossed me. Childhood innocence, living through two completely different ages of time, seclusion, etc. There wasn't anything I didn't like. A true masterpiece............

I watched two westerns yesterday.

Apaloosa was good but it's pretty much Mortensen being cool and Harris being old for two hours. You have every good elements of a classic western; a woman that gets between the two hero, gun fights, great open spaces, indians whose only goal is to be a menace and the bad guy. Sadly I felt that they tried to throw in a little bit too much talk between the two hero as they, quite awkwardly, try to talk about their feelings and the love story was kinda hard to believe. It slows down the movie and makes it a bit too "light" for the genre. But hey, if you want to see two cowboys talk about their feelings, be my guess.

I also watched The good, the bad, and the ugly. And man, old classics never die.

OOOOOH, SOMEONE DOESNT LIKE TARANTINO. Which is fair enough, as I know his movies really aren't for everyone. They just click with some people; others, they don't.

p.s. plz plz plz dom, tell me a movie u liek plz.

hmm I don't know about that.  you could arguably cut out woody harrelson's character (I can't remember if he actually had any affect on the story to be honest) but the rest of the movie is either action/tense atmosphere scene or character development scene.  if we were talking about the curious case of benjamin button I would agree because there was a lot of shit in that movie that was entirely unnecessary but I don't know I think most of what was in no country was necessary in one way or another

Was Woody Harrelson the assassin?  If so then his character needed to be in there as it led up to several important scenes for Chigurh and Moss as characters that wouldn't have otherwise happened if he wasn't there.

And yeah I just think dom didn't understand the film!

I saw gran torino today.  Not directly, i was watching over my roommate's shoulder while playing vidya games but it seemed like a good movie.

then i checked imdb and jesus christ is there a BAD clint eastwood film?

Just watched City of Embers. It was... well, it was the opening ten minutes of Oblivion for two hours. Plus a happy ending. Still, the costumes and setting was neat and well done. Only problem was the plot centred around a boy who inexplicably wants to fix the generator, and a girl who delivers messages. The ending had potential, but it was so rushed and everyone was bustling about like it was do-or-die, and it totally wasn't. They could have just took their time, but nope. High emotion and action with CG-weeeeee
Also, Bill Murray kind of ruined the mood for me. While he was well cast as the Mayor, it's Bill Murray. He can't act, and just stays as the same ol' guy. Therefore, it's hard to understand how Bill Murray survived for 200 years. Uh, another also, no one had pigment deficiencies or squinted at the sunrise.
It's a kid movie though, so I suppose there's no point griping about details.

8.5/10

Awesome. It was even better this time around because I actually saw the whole thing.

Man that movie is hilarious, Yeaster.

Forgot to mention: I watched the Death Race remake. I can't believe / can believe / how far they went to dumb this down. Instead of having a message, it was just like a new take on Fast and the Furious. They added Sword and Shield nodes on the track, so the drivers can't fire guns or release defense mechanisms until they've collected said tokens.
It's a closed-circuit Nascar race, so there was no reason to have the Navagator (in the original it was a cross-country drive, so it made sense.) In this one, they served one purpose: Slow-mo camera, tossing hair and 'oooh I'm sexy' music.
In the original racers hit pedestrians for extra points. In this, it was closed circuit, so no beans. I really hate this remake. It has no heart whatsoever; they just gutted the concept and tossed some current culture in for flavour.

Gran Torino is pretty good but I dunno if it's good only because I went and saw it with a bunch of asian people while the main character kept saying slope, gook, nip, and zipperhead through the whole thing.
