jesus man 9/10 do you have no standards at all. please, enlighten me as to what could have made it a 10/10. i want to know.

slumdog; i liked this. pretty fair depiction of a slumdog life in india. thought it was going to go the way of the kite runner and just pile on the terrible things but no, it did not. what bugged me the most was at the end when it succumbed to it's romance arch side and phone rings ITS HER........ SHE HAS THE PHONE

believable... but annoying. anyway, a solid movie to be sure, enjoyed it.

jesus this post took 2 edits I CAN NOT TUPE

You used to type fine, bozo.

Just watched Lost Highway......
It's been a couple of years since I saw it, but I remember getting into my head that the dude that has this weird conversation with the main dude is his jealousy and that Dick Laurent is his evil side, that he thought was gone for good. I can't remember much from it but I thought it made a lot of sense at the time and a lot of the story elements make a lot of sense if you consider that point of view. At least for me.

I need to re-watch it though. I thought it was fantastic, and I much prefer it to both Blue Velvet and Mullholland Drive, although I do believe the beginning of season 1 of Twin Peaks is the best Lynch work I've yet seen.

Anyway the last three movies I watched were Blue Velvet (rewatch), Slumdog Millionaire and the Curious Case of Benjamin Button. I'm a sucker for sentimental stuff so Ben. Button really got to me. I haven't cried as much during that flick since I watched that Korean Brotherhood of War flick. Yeah I'm a pussy when it comes to movies I just can't help but get really emotional and connect with the story, unless it's really un-engaging.

Well, I've watched a few movies recently, but most of them have been discussed in this topic. I've yet to see Slumdog Millionaire, and I have no intention of watching Benjamin Button. I do, however, plan on re-watching Mulholland Drive, since I haven't seen it in ages and people talking about it make me want to watch it again.

Still have to get around to Adaptation. Anyway...

Quarantine is a story about a bunch of people who get locked in an old apartment building because of exposure to some sort of SUPER ULTRA MEGA PSYCHO AWESOME strand of the . My brother told me that he disliked the movie because of the camera angles which immediately intrigued me. The movie is shot from the perspective of one camera, ala documentary, real-time "Hey, I'm a dude with a camera on my shoulder running away from people who ate too many antacid tablets." It's interesting, although not the first movie to employ this method (Cloverfield did it and, in my opinion, they did it better). The storyline is all right, the acting is all right, the characters propel the story along nicely, and then a little girl bites off part of her mother's cheek. The movie has no soundtrack, but the ambient sounds more than make up for it; I found it rather refreshing to watch a horror movie without cheesy music cues letting me know when the bad stuff was going to happen. The worst of the movie's problems, though, has to do with pacing. The movie creeps along, then the action happens and it's suddenly over. The whole opening part at the fire station could have been cut and no one would have cared.

All in all, this movie was definitely worth the rental. I wish I would have caught it in the theatre, if only to experience the surround sound.

EDIT: Thank you, Steel

Quarantine is a remake of a film that's only one year old. :(

I was reading that on the imdb page. The source film is called Rec, a Spanish language film. Why a film that's only a year old needed to be remade is beyond me... Are writers really running out of ideas so quickly that they watch foreign language films and say "Hey, let's translate that movie, put together a new cast and shoot it again!"(?) What did they do for the Spanish dub on Quarantine? Use the audio track from Rec???

I watched the movie in English and turned on the Portuguese subs. Seriously, folks, stop employing mentally challenged monkies to do subs. It was just BAD.

I wouldn't mind seeing Rec, it's just a matter of finding it, and making sure I can get a copy with English subs since Mamamack no speak Espanol.

EDIT: What the hell drugs am I on tonight? Cloverleaf...

Money.

Foreign language films do not sell unless it's Jackie Chan kicking stuff. Kids now don't appreciate cinema it's all about Mall Cop and whatever.

just saw The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert . it's a movie about drag queens and a transsexual going on a road trip in australia. it was very very good. lots of hilarious aussie humor and insults. director should have kept it as just a comedy, as he didn't do a very good convincing job of portraying the hardships and emotional effects of their discrimination in a couple scenes.

I saw Rec. From what I can tell, Quarantine is a shot for shot remake, so there's pretty much no point in watching it if you have already seen Quarantine I guess. Plus its shot on DV rather than HD, but I guess that kind of ads to the atmosphere that they were trying to create.

Yeah Quarantine was a shameless remake. It was like a MOVIE PORT. They barely changed ANYTHING except the obvious, the actors. I liked REC, mainly the last 10 minutes: . I downloaded Quarantine when the DVD rip came out just to see the difference and it was pointless to watch since as Lyndon said, it's pretty much a shot for shot remake. Of a year old movie. That's just sort of frustrating, like it's got to be the single easiest project to do and be guaranteed some box office returns.

'I’m a cyborg but that’s ok' - A very strange movie from the director who gave us the vengeance movies... I did enjoy watching this movie but didn’t understand a damn thing, I found some scenes just hilarious and others over the top and completely bizarre.

Just saw Push. Nothing special, decent sci-fi flick.

I did enjoy the attention they paid to the differences between the types of psychics though.

Infernal Affairs, yesterday.
The Departed, today.

And in my honest opinion, they both had elements which topped the other, but overall IA was much better
so you've come here for pointless ego boosting and happy sunshine glee? this aint deviantart man.

Batman: Mask of the Phantasm. I wouldn't normally think of it but Bruce Timm has been a huge influence on my ideas of what constitutes original style and good character design.
