Ummmm Raul Julia died of stomach cancer so I'm not sure what that Joystiq post is trying to say about Capcom. That SF movie looks bad all around but I'm not sure I think they should just never sell movie rights again.

Anyway I just saw Watchmen. Love it or hate it, you should see it. I almost wish I'd have seen the movie before reading the book though.

Yeah, that's pretty damn cruel of Joystiq to imply street fighter killed Raul Julia.

Taken - 2/10. Kinda weird that they turned a movie about a girl being kidnapped & deaths of like 100 people into a "feel good" movie

Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li - I had to watch this movie and Mamamack you weren’t kidding.. It was horrible in everyway! It got me thinking... maybe I should send a rich Chinese girl a mysterious scroll and see if she gives up her life and money to become a tramp who eats food from the garbage only to find the person who sent the scroll.

It was great watching the 7 year old Chinese girl at the beginning grow up in Hong Kong and transform into an American. I had no idea Japan raised their citizens to become Americans, so I definitely learned something new from this movie.

Yeah, maybe I mixed the locs up.. she was either born in Japan or China, one of the two then she moved to Hong Kong.. something like that, I kept fast forwarding the boring bits.

Like a good geek, I just caught the opening night of Watchmen, and it was every bit as awesome as I could have hoped. It deconstructs the superhero genre, and with the exception of Dr. Manhattan being unstuck in time, brings masked vigilanteeism down to earth, and looks at what a world with superheros would really look like.

It had some amazingly complex characters, pulled no punches thematically or visually (it was extremely graphic, but always with reason), and is probably one of the best comic-book movies I've seen without having read the source material... which I'm going to do now.
If no one went off on tangents, we'd keep going in circles.

For me, the last film I watched was Fucking Amal. Probably the best teen romance I've ever seen, the film is depressing at points, gripping at others and ultimately uplifting. The plot in a few sentences: a young girl (Agnes) falls in love with another girl, but the girl (Elin) is extremely popular where as Agnes is a lonely "geek". It's simple but effective.

Jesus dude, do you not fucking read ANYTHING I post? I've said repeatedly that being white does not make your American.

Being white does not make you American. You can be Asian and also be American.

Also this says a lot about you. "I mixed the locs up" is still dumb! "something like that" my ass. All east Asian countries are not the same!

I got warned for the first time in a long time because of you, I don't give a fuck but christ.

SHUT THE FUCK UP

So you mean you can watch that whole movie and not know and or remember if Chun-li is from China or Japan?

I can't tell if this says things about you or this movie.

Seriously.

Original version: Dan and Laurie defend themselves against mugging knot heads in an alley
Snyder version: Bone ruptures flesh. Heads are thrown through concrete walls. Necks are broken. One neck is stabbed. There where no survivors.

Original version: Rorschach handcuffs a guy to the wall, lights the room on fire, hands him a bone saw and says something like "Don't bother sawing through the cuffs" then walks out
Snyder version: Roschach frantically hacks his face away with a cleaver.

Original version: 'Fat chance' get's his throat cut with a box cutter.
Snyder version: He gets his arms cut off with an electric saw.

I just saw Taken and WOW, it was an excellent movie. Probably the best thriller I've seen in along time. The only possible thing I could complain about is that it was too short, but I can't imagine them making it any longer without it being boring.

Yeah! Hahaha!
The one thing I love about my country is how so many idiots use casual racism and not realise they're being racist (or they just don't care).

Seriously.

And holy shit, that's a big dissapointment. I was asked if I wanted to go see it today, but I decided against it incase it was SOMETHING LIKE THAT.

I forgot, why did they cut his neck in the original?  He was blocking the lock but Big Figure said "sorry dude gotta slit your throat."  I agree with everything else (I already raised a stink about Rorschach and the butcher knife but 90% of the internet disagrees with me) but it actually made sense to cut his arms off because he was blocking the lock.

I just watched the Chun-Li movie over my roommate's shoulder and have no idea what the fuck it was about.  The entire thing was made out to be realistic and stuff then Chun-Li creates a fireball and blasts M. Bison who's a fucking businessman or something... AGH.  To make it worse, they reference Ryu in Japan in an international tournament OH PLEASE GOD DON'T MAKE ANOTHER

Now I didn't mind the new ending THAT much but I was disappointed by the lack of bodies.  Seeing everyone in new york with their blood dripping down the clock at Time's Square was powerful.  Seeing an empty crater among ruins... not so much.  I didn't care at all that millions of people died.  There was no emotional impact.

I looked through the comic again and it doesn't seem like they moved him away from the lock at all. They do note the smell of him 'cooking' as they are burning through the lock though. My guess was that it was either done out of mercy or convenience (since they where on borrowed time and thrashingfatman would have made things harder for them). Whether or not the change was justified it still felt very Snyder'esque.

How can you look at the scene where they are rebuilding a community within the crater and say that =(

Read the joystiq excerpt I posted in this topic, they're already making more.  And if I remember correctly, they were planning on making SEVERAL more.
