ok so i used to have fairly slow computer so i put tinyxp rev05 on it, and it was excellent, so naturally when i built my new computer i wanted to put tinyxp on it as well, so i went and got rev09 because it had service pack 3 slipstreamed into it too.

rev05 used to use around 80 megs of ram idling, max, rev09 uses around 200 with the same stuff running off start up. furthermore it takes a really long time to boot and there's a bunch of little nacks, like networking quirks, that didn't seem to happen with rev05 (admittedly rev05 had some major annoying problems, but they fixed themselves through auto-updates). i've tried rev09 on my old computer too and it's much slower than rev05

does anyone have any experience with the different flavours of tinyxp? evidently you can make something similiar by yourself so i might actually give that a go unless it's too hard (likely).

yeah it sucks because it seems like the eXperience is releasing the new revisions a lot worse than the old ones and the old ones are harder to find so my computer doesn't have that many benefits and the only reason i'm running it is because i accidentally deleted windows once.

EDIT: yeah making it yourself is pretty easy if you have a disk or iso of XP. you download a tool to rip out the unnecessary stuff and it does it pretty much for you. i can't remember what it's called...

but really though if you have any decent computer you really don't need to use a stripped down version of xp at all.

how much ram do you have? if you have 2gb or more you will not notice any performance increase on the os. Even if you have 1gb, the increase is probably negligible. are you doing hardcore programming or hardcore gaming? if not, then you should look at optimizing other areas before stripping down your os.
yes coulombs are "germaine", did you learn that word at talk like a dick school?

when i had rev05 boot to operational was about a second. i've got 3 gigs of ram but shuffling stuff around and using the harddrive all leads to a less responsive environment!

while youre at it why dont you disable your page file, "clean" your registry, defrag your hard drive every day, buy a killerNIC, liquid cool your southbridge

oh wait, because none of these things actually provide a performance increase
