i second Mischief Makers. that was such a fun game. :D

also, the MOTHER series. not anything special or even new. i just wish nintendo of america would stop hatin' on the series so much. i want earthbound for the virtual console. :< Mother 4 would be cool too, but i don't think that's gonna happen, and i dont know if i really want that to happen anyway.
semper games.

Some series I want back which have already been mentioned:

- Ecco (2D please!)
- Jet Meto (I was actually thinking of this when I clicked on the topic)

Also, I want to see these come back:

I want Rayman to return to 2D where he rightfully belongs. I don't want to see these spin off party games anymore. Give me something akin to the original Rayman which was awesome. Actually, even Rayman 2 was a great 3D platformer - but still I prefer 2D if they can help it.

Ok, so Zombies Ate My Neighbors can't really be considered a series, but a sequel was released that apparently failed (how come I only found out about this now?). Having this game return would be awesome. Keep it 2D, enable wireless multiplayer, custom level creation, I don't care. Even a basic game with the same concept with minimal features would be great!

Bring back Donkey Kong Country. In other words, a proper 2D DKC game. I just want good platforming to return.

Speaking of platforming, I wish that Disney could go back to releasing awesome platformers based on their movies. Who doesn't remember playing Lion King, Alladin, Beauty & The Best (I can't believe a game this hard was marketed for children!), Mickey Mouse Castle of Illusion, QuackShot, etc. All these are awesome platformers.

Looking back at this entire post, I've basically come to the conclusion that I want to see the return of the 2D platformer.

Also, this too:

It'll never happen though because Konami now owns the rights and they're too ignorant to continue a series that bested DDR and proved that they suck as a company. Long live ITG... at least you continue to live on due to custom song creation.

you are not recommending this fucking game.

whats so horrible is the plot is clearly made for children, as in REALLY YOUNG CHILDREN, but the game itself is pretty difficult for anyone under like 18.
Also, has anyone played the original Dark Cloud? Dark Cloud was a terrible game.

dark cloud was horrible as well. all your weapons had limited number of uses but unlike in dc2 if it broke in DC1 it was gone forever if I remember right. good game design...

Ugh, there are so many things I hate about that game. I played it longer than I should have just to see if it would get better, but it never did - it actually got worse as I realized how repetitive it was. The randomized maps were all terrible looking, too.

Anyway, I personally would like to see a Breath of Fire VI.

I don't know if anyone remembers playing the game Return Fire for the playstation?  It was one of the most fun multiplayer games I've ever played.  Basically you control military vehicles and try to capture each other's flag and bring it back to your own base.  I would like to see this re-done with the same camera distance and angle but on the xbox/ps3.  It would work great over the internet or in person and it was a lot of fun.

Dark Cloud was my very first PS2 game that came with the PS2 for free. Me and my two brothers were ecstatic about it, trying to one up eachother with weapon collecting. It only settled into me how repetitive the game was when I was playing Demon Shaft (100 floors, 100 long fucking floors). But you have to admit some of Dark Clouds tracks are pretty good, 2 was better with that your items didn't dissappear if they broke, and those really long hallways got cut in half... And surprisingly it did a good job of perfectly imitating a golf game despite the fact that it's a mini-game which is pretty strange. Luckily because they were the crappiest PS2 games I ever played it didn't take much to please me beyond that.

Anyways the games I want brought back, (omitting anything new for one of my reccomendations) Hybrid Heaven and Shadow Run. The first Hybrid Heaven's little shindig was fun for me. If you upped the level design, and get rid of that stupid fizzy gun it'd be a pretty good game i'd say.

For Shadow Run it's really easy, since it works best as a Sand Box game. You could cheaply just take GTA4(or Saints Row 2)'s engine and overhaul it, and there you go. The two other games for it (not including that new mishmash) was basically you put in the middle of North America and you do some eeriely familiar revenge stories. The Sega one was sand box style, and had the better gameplay then it's SNES counterpart.

Also Army Men and BattleTanx (I loved that flipping Tank).

A tool is a tool regardless. I mean if you suck, you suck, and not even the most perfect tool could save you. And if your damn good then even with the worst tool ever conceived you could chug out some high quality shit.

man if I started a game company it would definitely be like Singletrac - we wouldn't give a crap about how our games looked at all (seriously the Twisted Metal games looked like they were 64x48 resolution or something) but they'd have the best gameplay ever so nobody else would care either and we'd create like every good new franchise for whatever system it was (didn't they make Warhawk too I heard that was good)

An actual Donkey Kong Country-esque game would be amazing. They missed the mark with Donkey Kong 64 by a long shot. But yeah, with the right direction it could be ace.

Yeah Keen and Ecco and stuff would suck ass in 3D. If only people still developed for the Genesis and SNES. I guess maybe some guys could make fan game sequels for Pc though.

I could've sworn I read that some small team worked on and released a genesis game  they made on an actual cartridge.

edit:

this might have been it.

after the recent disappointment with the whole Blood of Bahamut thing, I find myself hoping for a Bahamut Lagoon sequel(not really a series, beyond maybe being a FF spin off, but w/e). Also a new (non-cell phone)Parasite Eve would be nice(preferably with more in common with PE 1 then 2).

Good space sims! Any of them, I don't care which: Freespace, freelancer, Wing Commander, starlancer(it was a bit different from freelancer).

I heard X3 has a stand alone coming out soon, but other then that, there is nothing!

I would give just about anything for some more Snowboard Kids.  Snowboard Kids 2 was the reason I bought an N64 as a kid.  And I saved up the money for it entirely myself (granted it was based on allowance, and my parents gave me quite a bit, but it was still a LONG period of time saving up for it for a kid).  I still play it occasionally when I feel like hooking up the N64.  It's my favorite racing game of all time, and is just...so dang fun.  Put that shit on the 360 with online play and my life would be improved greatly.

edit: apparently it has been continued, there was apparently a ds version (could just be a complete port though).  but ugh it has the gayest cover ever...has anyone played this?  i will buy it if it is good
