oh this isn't too bad! i wrongly assumed that shit costed a ton.
It does.  For example, the raw chocolate nibs cost 16 bucks for a 1 pound bag (online plus shipping) but I only put a small handful (like 10 nibs they are tiny) and I don't use them everyday.  For the regular food, I buy mostly organic stuff but for some fruits I buy conventional for example bananas, because they are the least effected with pesticides (they have the huge ass skin that you peel off it's harder for the pesticides to seep through than with, say, an apple) and if a chain grocery store offers an organic product with there brand name I buy it cause it's cheaper (For example silk soymilk is like 2.79 for 32oz, whereas store brand soymilk that is organic is like 1.99 and tastes the same (I use almond milk mostly now though).  I buy frozen fruits and veggies because they last longer, are just as nutritious as fresh (mostly (the stuff bought at the store isn't really fresh anyways),) and an alright price.

When I was raw it was super expensive because some recipes called for like 1 cup of cacao nibs that's crazy.

100-150 bucks for how regular grocery man, it does cost money to buy organic alone and that's ignoring his novelty vegan stuff. he probably saves money on not buying meats but yeah 150 is a lot, my mom don't spend that much buying for a household of three.

But many times does she go to the grocery store a month?  I go about once.  I'll go more if I'm making a recipe and I need ingredients or something but yeah.

dude what? My mom has a household of 3, and has an income of like 400 dollars a week max, and she still spends 100-150 a week. Groceries take up most of our budget, and our shelves are still empty a lot and it's all gross shitty cheap food. how are you people spending 150 a month you assholes!!

I can buy that stuff because I'm really lucky!  I still live at home with my mom and the only other thing I have to pay for is gas.  My mom will buy some food stuff for me too if it's just a couple things here and there (she won't spend like $50 on food just for me though).  But this semester I am paying for school for myself so that's gonna suck a bit!

for one person (not three rajew) not buying ANY MEAT CHEESE MILK EGGS (the major expenses when I go to the grocery) it's kind of pricey. then again my family has a built in crazy deal sense and my mom regularly saves like half the price of her groceries when she goes about once a month so maybe I'm just crazy.

also rajew shitty food isn't necessarily saving you any money. buying a bunch of tv dinners will possibly end up costing you more than making the same food if you amortize the cost down.

i dont even disapprove at all, it just doesn't surprise me that his budget is equal to that of a meat eating guy because dok loves fresh organic stuff and that always tends to bump up the price plus he buys some gimmicky stuff that by virtue of not being mass marketed costs more.

he's not really SAVING money which is why it's kind of pricey because he should be. fuck he doesn't even buy BUTTER dude.

no i meant like, low budget food. Like ramen that costs 50 cents for 20 packages of it (may be a slight exaggeration) etc. and my post was more responding to yours about how your mother feeds a family of 3 on less than 150 (a week??) apparently!!

well typically my grocery shopping costs 100-150$ per week or two weeks for 3 people. this has been kind of inflated as of late because holy shit grocery prices have been going sky high lately. sometimes i swear it would be cheaper to eat out than to buy shit like MILK BREAD AND FRUIT.

i always prefer to buy locally but the closest local fruit/vegetable market is like 25-30 mins away :(

probably because scurvy is a vitamin C deficiency and i'm pretty sure ramen sucks in that department (seriously eat an orange).

well now that im in college i am eating the food that they provide (mostly salads tho because their other stuff sucks!) and my brother eats lunch at school and I think he doesnt eat a breakfast so.
I mean, when there is no school the only real choice there is is ramen sometimes tuna fish sandwiches? (sometimes both!!!) oh and saltines with the ramen. Dinners are a lot of pasta like spaghetti.

Huh that is weird about co-ops. Around where I live they're cooperative living arrangements where everyone has duties where they cook or garden or do house maintenance, and you pay $3000 a semester with all food and utilities paid for.

Hey I eat ramen for meals. It tastes like shit, but we're never making bank so we eat it cause it's cheap. It's not the ONLY thing I eat obviously. My mom generally buys these fatass packs of rice and pasta which last us months, so I eat those too. But I eat mostly grains because fruits and veggies and meat are all sort of expensive on a daily basis. I actually get my vitamin C from school fruits (yeah.) and Flinstones vitamins.

Ramen's fun to eat with poached egg and tabasco sauce, by the way.

that's a housing co-op which are pretty nice too

we're talking food co-ops

so basically what i gather is housing co-ops are like really really little miniature versions of communism in effect huh

like obviously ITS NOT THAT and it's missing a ton of shit but that is kind of the idea

co-ops round by me get targeted for armed robbery like every day (I am not shitting you here) because they're so  badly protected. There's like three within 20 minutes walking distance, and they seem to stock delicious sausage rolls.

Also Dok I didn't think you had to pay for your food, I just assumed you went around GRAZING or some shit.
