hot tip from gw's last hiphop guy (thats me): black milk is fast becoming the new j dilla; a stylized approach to beat making with a growing indie presence who can't rap that well and has quite a few overrated albums, but is still good and will be the late 2000s beats guy pretty much.

i say this because it's all over this blog. HERE'S AN ANALOGY

DRE:KANYE::J DILLA:BLACK MILK. grab the caltroit album if you're interested in hearing some of his better work.

they all should. thats why im creating for 2008 a book called Post-9/11: Posts You Should Know. included are:
-climbtrees gradual transformation into a bush
-the time wash cycle said he wasnt racist because he had a black friend
-and a handy series of flashcards to keep up with gw history up to publication!
haha was that like 3 years ago? cause I would never say something like that now lol

I am just chuckling at myself cause I know at a point in my life I probably thought that way haha

well anyway I made a mixtape cause I dont think anyone here at gw other than me listens to this stuff (or at least I have never talked to anyone here about it anyway heh) but yeah its kind of an amalgam of various country/rockabilly/psychobilly shit that is pretty good. its mostly stuff my best friend's crazy dad gave me but also some stuff I listened to growing up so yeah

1. Buck Owens - Johnny B. Goode
2. Jello Biafra - Plastic Jesus
3. Mojo Nixon - I Like Marijuana
4. The Blasters - So Long Baby Goodbye
5. The Jayhawks - Sioux City
6. The Del Lords - How can a poor man stand such times and live?
7. The Reverend Horton Heat - Crooked Cigarette
8. Commander Cody - Hot Rod Lincoln
9. Dwight Yoakam - Turn it on, turn it up, turn me loose
10. Jason & The Schorchers - Drugstore truck drivin' man
11. Mark Knopfler - Speedway at Nazareth
12. Southern Culture on the Skids - Pass the Hatchet
13. The Belmont Playboys - Tore Up
14.The Long Ryders - Capturing the flag
15. Calexico - Detroit Steam

man he namedrops calexico often! I know a few of the others but that's the WC band right there, other than DBT which I think I might have introduced him to so that's hardly fair game.

I own, fuck y'all.

man I wrote a really long baked post and decided this would be better:

I'd say that Calexico is one of my favorite groups right now regardless of genre. Their blend of country with horn and accordion and various elements borrowed from the music of northern mexico (hey they are from tucson sup gb) is pretty sweet and they can be pretty psychedelic/funky as well so yeah.

dbt definitely owns though
